I cannot see the Steam Home in the headset anymore, Pimax logo is all i get. SteamVR app says Steam home is the active application. This Pimax requires Magic to get it going It seems. I have yet to do anything with it beyond watch video. I did manage to get Steam Home to show in the display once but could not control anything. The Vive controllers don’t work. I have the Xbox 360 controller active. It doesn’t work either. Same with Mouse and Keyboard. Just how does one set this thing up to use it reliably? Are there any tutorials around?

What version of PiPlay are you using? Latest release is 1.2.91.
Make sure your headset is in PiMax Mode. Ensure your 360 controller is active/on
After Pimax headset connected either launch steamvr from PiPlay or launch steam then click on VR in title bar
If you launch Steam it should tell you your 360 controller is active.
I have disabled steamvr home in favor of the mt room.
Press your 360 home button to activate steam menu inside of vr. From here you can either use the controller to select something or switch to bigscreen mode.
If your 360 controller not recognized in steam. Goto Settings controllers & ypu may need to click on some options there to get controller working.
**Also your SteamVR window on desktop should show the headset icon is green.
You have a vive as well?
Yes I have a vive. I tried the suggestions you mentioned on my weaker Pc. It has an i5 and GTX970. I was able to get Bigscreen VR and Virtual desktop to run. Sort of. The video tears terribly and will not stabilize. I do not have any Idea why that happens. Maybe too much for the 970. The BE Pimax works fine on that machine at least it did the last time i tried it. My other machine is an i7 with a 1080. I will try that one again tomorrow, that’s the one I use the vive for.
You may need to tweak some steamvr settings to allow multiple headsets.
@Sjef or @vts may know better on this. @vts if mem serves has multiple vr hmds.
@crony is also an excellent wealth if knowledge!
As for the 970 may need tweaks to get it smoother running.
Ok, I got the headset to work using an extension recommended by CryCoh (Thanks CryCoh). Now the next step, Probably something trivial. I’m using Steam for all gaming and Virtual Desktop for Video. NO trouble with VD, In Steam Home Beta I have no control over anything using the xbox 360 controller or mouse. Probably a setting in steam somewhere but I can’t find it. Anyone know how to get a controller other than Vive to work in Steam Home Beta?
Load steam without VR. Goto steam\settings\controller settings
If when you load steam it recognizes you have a controller attached. You will hear a ding noise with popup mentioning bigTV mode.
If not goto to controllers in steam menu under settings.
I have disable steam home VR in favor if the void. Either way the “home” button on your 360/xb1 controller should summon the program launcher from there launch a game ir swith to a bigtv like vr interface.
thank you for that information. Unfortunately that does not solve my problem. The only controller listed under the Steam controller section is their controller. I do not have a Steam Controller. I would prefer to use the keyboard and mouse to control big screen. I do have an xbox 360 controller with the Controller companion software, but it is not the same apparently. It barely works and often loses connection completely. I do not think making the Pimax work should be this much trouble. My vive just works flawlessly every time. Thanks for your input. I have sent a support ticket to steam also.
Did you enable other controller support?
I have had both my steam controller & logitech 710 controller work. I don’t use or have controller companion. Maybe its interfereing?
Not sure why your setup is having trouble. May need @PIMAX-Support to see about setting up a skype with teamview
