So they are building backers headsets in May, planning to start shipping in May, but aren’t going to do anything about return labels until after PD3 announcement… “in May”.

I mean, are they just deliberately trying to upset people now?

Yes, it says that in the announcement. The problem is that many of us have been asking for return labels since before November 2019 because we don’t want return labels to slow down the process of shipping out our 8KX headsets, yet this has been completely ignored and we aren’t going to get our return labels until after others have already started getting their headsets shipped out.

Despite months of pointing our how sub-optimal this solution is, its still the one Pimax have chosen.

One thing I must say is that looking at the steps that were not done at the time of the preorder, the original shipment promised was never possible even without the COVID-19 problem. I wonder who is responsible for the first shipment date forecast. I would have preordered it even if I knew the ship date might have been around Q2/Q3 hell maybe even Q4. I think Pimax should give out realistic dates for their preorder at least. Doesn’t need to be spot on. Just a realistic assumption.

In any case, thanks again, I do appreciate the update.

Hand tracking module - was ready & demoed 2 years ago but Pimax still making coco-jumbo aroud it saying that right now need samples for test and anlysys. Delivery June - Meh & copy/paste!

Well the Originally Pre Order was said Nov/Dec 2019 which agreed was very unrealistic. March/April was more reasonable target and should have been the original advertised date for pre orders and revised long before this time frame expired.

I could imagine that they send out the 8k X even when the loaner wasn’t returned yet or is on the way.
No clue what they do with the returned loaners anyways. Refurbished devices would compete with the new ones (would make most sense ecologically though). Let’s see what the anouncement brings…

On the topic - to be honest I was never expecting 8KX to be ready before March - April this year, and it was not taking in view current situation.

I think considering all happening, Pimax is doing very well, I was quite surprised that, for example, they considered replacing the plastic hinges with metal ones - I was really concerned about them since my 8K.

@SweViver @PimaxUSA @PimaxQuorra What I really want to know from the May event or next updates:

  • if people are due to receive their pre-ordered or KS 8KX and they also have KS stretch goals like SMAS - will Pimax consider to send everything together or it can create too much logistics problems to be done this way?
  • what is happening with the rest of KS stretch goals - SMAS, etc;
  • how Pimax is going to organize the 8KX deliveries - via local warehouses as during the KS deliveries (to avoid local taxes/duties), or any other way?
  • do we have say on how we’d like 8KX / stretch goals / etc to be delivered?
  • for people who ordered DMAS - will they have an option (for extra fee or else) to receive SMAS first and receive DMAS speakers/headphones later?

I think there been enough questions asked about the loaner units already, probably Pimax not answering them because of they don’t know how they’d like to proceed or it may be they don’t know if they want to recycle them or if it’ll be worth to do that.

They’ve had lots of chances to benefit the backer in ways like this and always taken the worst option, I can’t see them suddenly changing their way now. I wait to be proven wrong.

I do agree it is baffling there still delaying those whom want to return the loaners. However no real benefit save if they intend to wait for loaner be returned prior to the 8kX being shipped to you.

Maybe @PimaxQuorra or @PimaxVR can at least confirm that Backers with loaners to return will not have to wait for their 8kX to ship prior to them receiving the loaner.

Perhaps with all the delays, they’ll just announce during the P3 Day that they can all keep the loaner headset. :man_shrugging:t2: What are they going to do with a used headset anyways?

this is important, i don’t think anyone will put up with a softstrap in this year of 2020, either they will wait another 6 weeks or get loaner sMAS for a small fee, or downgrade with refund.

we sitll need reviews of dMAS vs sMAS before anyone can make decision.
