Vive Controller Issues with Pimax 8K

After installing the latest Pitools update 1.0.1.129 (and .132) I have been having trouble with my Vive controllers. For some reason, as soon as I start using any of the buttons on the controller while in SteamVR Home the position of the controller freaks out and moves all over the place around me. I tried downgrading my Pitools and headset firmware back to 1.0.1.121 (which worked fine for me) and it didn’t seem to resolve the issue. Has anyone else encountered this? I am starting to wonder if maybe its a SteamVR issue rather than a Pitools issue but I wanted to reach out first before I spend the time trying to downgrade SteamVR.

I have been running 129 since release. No issues with Vive wands. Have you tried setting up room scale again in Pitool and Steam an pairing again?

I did try setting it up again with no success but I did move my Pimax to another computer and its working properly there so I’m guessing its not the firmware at this point or SteamVR as I’m running the latest version on my other machine as well. At this point I’m thinking it might actually be my Windows install. I haven’t been able to install updates for a while due to some weird bug that won’t allow them to install. I’m guessing at this point that my Windows needs to be on a newer version to work properly. Can anyone confirm this to be a potential issue?

What version of Windows are you running on the offending machine?

Perhaps a usb driver on that machine? Just guessing now I suppose.

I want to say Windows 10 version 1803 but I’m not sure and I can’t get that info at the moment. As for USB, I don’t see how as its the same port I’ve always used and it worked fine before this week. It is possible though as the USB is the likely culprit in what’s causing the problem. I might try changing the port and seeing if that fixes it. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have 5k+ and have been seeing a similar problem. in games that have natural movement (hold touchpad to move), the controller that is used for movement(left) freaks out every 3-60 seconds. For example onward/pavlov grip gun on foregrip with left hand(press to grip) and hold up to move forward, after about 3-60 seconds of holding up, for a split second I’ll move backward and ungrip foregrip. I don’t use steamvr home, but I’ll have to try that out to see if the problem is there too.

[UPDATE] I don’t have this problem in SteamVR Home
