Very low framerate and loose frames

:slight_smile: well my friend, i have follow the instruction from Industria in this thread: i have piplay 1.1.92;
Resolution: 1080p
Steamvr supersampling: 1.5
In-game downsampling: DS6X
Asynchronous reprojection: on
Interleaved reprojection: off.
Also, i think that the hardware specs are important or crucial to achieve a low loose of frame. But i still to have all kind of boring and harmfull problems with my Pimax 4k (and a green bar).

How you could improve what?

Well, i think its your hardware issue of pimax headset, or you’re too sensitive to vr and there is no issue at all.
Its 100% not a perfomance issue.

It’s possible it could be hardware related, but it’s not due to pc specification.

i7 6700K @ 4.0GHz 16GBytes system RAM
ASUS GTX-1080 Strix 8GBytes VRAM
ASUS Maximus VIII Hero Alpha motherboard.

Probably around 100 times faster than Pimax needs

Though Pimax resolution is not set to 1920 X 1080

Incidentally, I don’t experience any illness after hours of playing Elite Dangerous.

Well I set Piplay resolution to 1920 X 1080 and now no dropped frames.

Maybe some HDMI issue??? Should easily handle 2650 X 1440 without dropped frames???

Same hardware here. And same game also: i love Elite Dangerous and i have buy rhe pimax to play with this game

I agree. But it’s impossible that is only a personal bad tolerance to vr. Every single person that use my Pimax has the same terrible effects.

Yeah, it’s a great game. My favourite.
For best 3D affect I’ve seen so far, try Bullet Time demo (Piplay download). Wow!

I tried at lower resolution 1920 X 1080, but ED display is not as good as 2650 X 1440 even with dropped frames.
Not sure that frames are actually being dropped in game so will put it back to 2650 X 1440.

Have not noticed any improvement with different settings for Supersampling.

I seem to get a better result with Dynamic Super Sampling (1.5x) in NVIDIA Control Panel (Pimax in Video Mode to see two monitors).

I am a real newbie for all the settings on my pc. Fortunately, having a good hardware, usually i keep everything at maximum (ultra in a lot of games), and all is fast and fluid. With Pimax it is very different. I can not understand how the various settings influence the different games, and they are many considering that there are those of Piplay, those of Steam, those of the GPU and those in the games. Also seems to me that everybody tell different things, and that no one knows what EXACTLY do to improve the performance of Pimax 4k. For now I can write that: 1.1.9 piplay looks better in terms of speed, the Steamvr options seem useful to monitor the functioning of the Headset. I have not tried to change anything in the nVidia Control Panel, but I will follow your advice and I’ll check if anything changes there by varying the parameters. For games for me Project Cars is the one that behaves in a more annoying way. Everything moves at breakneck speed, but gives me a sense of discomfort after less than a minute. Elite: Dangerous looks better if you use a slow ship (I have a anaconda) and you do not change direction quickly. If I use a fighter, for example, the annoyance and discomfort are close to those that feel with Project Cars. If i use an SRV is even worse. I downloaded Subnautica and I noticed that I can put a lot of options at max, including the complexity of the sea. However, some slowdowns affect the ability to play for more than five minutes. The best results I got is with games like Lucky’s Tale, that has not fast direction changes.

yes, with glasses. I am myopic and astigmatic.

I understand what you mean about having to wear glasses…

I have to wear glasses (I’m long sighted) and even with my glasses on Pimax is not in focus.

I had to buy a cheap pair of magnifying glasses (2.5x) and use the lenses on top of the Pimax lenses.
This gives me good focus in a large circle looking at Pimax logo. Everything else has rainbow colours.

However in game (ED) it isn’t much of a problem because of head tracking. Most other games and 360 videos are also ok. BUT I would prefer to have some mechanical focus so that the second lenses could be removed.

wow, I’m sorry. I also use contact lenses, but the discussion unfortunately does not change with my motion sickness, or perhaps get worse. So far I have always rooted for Pimax and I still do. The service has contacted me to help me. The Chinese way of looking after relations with their customers it’s great. I just hope they hurry up to solve these problems and that are able to provide tools increasingly clear at least to understand what does not work case by case.

I’m selling the Pimax, losing 30€ from my original purchase and this sale. I am very disappointed by this product

could be a issue with the discrete video output?

On a desctop pc with 1080gtx? O_o dont think so. However its not hard to check, simply disabled it in bios.

I wanted to know if it is possible that my HDMI port dedicated to vr headset, the one that is recommended by Asus, does not work well with Pimax. Should i try a different HDMI input? My GPU has 2 HDMI port, 2 display port compatible and 1 DVI compatible. One HDMI port is recommended for VR. And i am using that until now. It came to my mind that maybe the other HDMI port should show some different behavior of my Pimax 4K.

Yes, you should definitely try it, but the chances are not high.
With my previous post i thought you were asking about integrated video card (thats what i meant talking about disabling it; missunderstood).

 yes unfortunately I can not express myself well in English. I had understood that you asked me to check if it was enabled in the BIOS the GPU output. My question was too concise

Has anyone tried using the Displayport interface on a GTX-1080 with a HDMI adaptor with Pimax?
Would be interested in knowing if it could work.

Tried it, strange red lines appear in the HMD but the image is viewable.
