Using PIMAX without a Monitor

Hi,

just wondering if there is a way to ditch my monitor so my PC can just boot directly to have windows desktop displayed in 3d on the Pimax HMD?

if this can be done, i no longer need to attach a monitor to my PC.

Reason why I want this is I want my PC to be VR dedicated, so it will just be the PC case attached to Pimax HMD which will act as the monitor when not in VR mode and show windows desktop - and when i enter VR mode it will switch.

right now i need to boot up in windows to my LED monitor, then boot game into Pimax HMD, so the monitor is there just ofr this purpose which is not ideal for me

thanks

One of those HDMI headless ghost’s & Virtual Desktop auto-starting upon PC boot may work.

It would be SteamVR mode showing the Desktop though.

Is there a reason Desktop mode/Extended Mode is needed?

hi, no i dont want extended mode, by desktop i mean the windows user interface ie. windows desktop where i can click on start menu or icons…

i want to run in steamVR, but have it auto boot right into pimax HMD and show the virtual desktop there, where i can kick off steamVR games via Pimax software…

currently i need to use a monitor first to get to this point…and i really want to remove the monitor from my rig to just make it full vr.

Virtual Desktop set to auto-start when PC boots should work but not sure if you can forego the HDMI headless ghost adapter.

Update:

You will need a Headless ghost HDMI adapter, otherwise nothing graphic intensive will display like games or videos, etc.

Use Task Scheduler to auto-start SteamVR (vrserver.exe) and the free VR Desktop app (Bigscreen)

Tested on Piplay 2.0.7.54 & used fit-Headless GS w/ DVI-to-HDMI adapter.

You will have a big problem when content crashes and SteamVR gets stuck, there will be no way to escape.

Something you could do is have Teamviewer running to remotely connect using Tablet/Phone if need be.
