Using Pimax 8K to view YouTube videos

No I did not. There are many other things wrong with the view / eye position, and I am sure they know about it but they do not consider sufficiently important to do any thing about it?
I am not sure if the LR default is the same as airfoillabs, but I know that others have mentioned the in cockpit view issue. In a real 172 an average size person sets up / adjusts the seat position to be able to see some of the top of the cowl and the wing tips from a position where you can clearly read the instruments. In the 172 with the digital G1000 a position where you can completely see the 2 G1000, top of cowl and the wing tips.
This view is important because in a real life an Instructor teaches how to use those points during landing, and in ground reference maneuvers etc.
In VR the forward view is proper but the wing tips are still not in the proper location and cannot be used properly. Hopefully MS’s new sim will do it properly but I am not holding my breath, they had it wrong in the MSFSX also.
I ended up having to make my own C182 RG for the MSFSX.
PS
I just had a quick look at airfoillabs video and they do not have the proper view either.
Most of the people that design the model are artists that have never flown in the acft they are designing. They just copy the 3d dimensions from some Inet source and are more interested in the art / looks that flight and accuracy of the model to be used as a tool.

The airfoillabs model is different then the one that Laminar Research is distributing with the XPlane 11 but neither of them are correct.

The reason I ask is that a lot of the plane creators are, as you say, artists. However, I have seen a lot of these ‘artists’ actively seeking out actual pilots for feedback. Most of the artists have a lot of pride in their work and want it to be as close to realistic as they can get it. Complaining about the lack of reality in a sim without actually providing feedback to the creator is kind of self defeating. If you want it fixed, make the effort. If you don’t make the effort, why should they?
-Not intending a rant, I just wanted to point that out. Complaints are common, getting people to provide useful feedback is more of pia than you’d expect.

Edit: I’d love to see someone like you involved in the ‘plane creation’ aspect! This is one of the things that makes the difference between a really good model and an ‘ok’ one: if they have actual pilot feedback. -Some of them have actual pilot feedback and it shows…

You are correct. When I responded to your message it was about “airfoillabs”. I left numerous message to developers directly, like the LR and MS, over the years, and on many boards / forums.
A problem with posting is that you get what I refer to as fanatics, that really do not know or care to know, about what is correct. They think that what some of these people do is gospel and will try to attack you personally and are not really interest in real life flying or using the sim as a tool, they just want to have fun. Eye candy is what attracts most users on the Inet.

You’re not kidding there!!!
I’m not surprised to hear that you have been posting, nor am I surprised that you’ve gotten jaded at it.
Oh well, all we can do is try.

Very true, unfortunately.

As long you are using a 16:9 screen…
I really like the quality of VD but 3D ist a hustle as a 21:9 user unfortunately.
The only way to make it work to use VD‘s SBS feature, is to set your monitor to a 16:9 aspect ratio first. Otherwise the alignment will be completely off.
