Hi Guys!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted something here, but it’s been because I’ve been using my Valve Index instead of my 5k+ on my PC for the last 6 months or so.
I want to try and go back to my Pimax 5k+ again but I wanted to know what I would need to do to be able to swap back and forth. Does SteamVR recognize 2 different headsets connected to it? So If I wanted to use the Pimax, I can plug the pimax in, and if I want to switch and unplug it, i can just plug in the Index and it’ll work again, or do I have to do the room setup each time? Is there anything further I would need to do to get it working also?

You will need to pair your Index controllers in Pitool but otherwise things should be fine.
You naturally will want to restart SVR after switching headsets.

I am not sure about Index, but to switch between P5k+ and HTC Vive I do the following.
-
When using P5k+ I disconnect the linkbox from the PC (while leaving Vive connected to the linkbox) and just power on and off P5k+ by the power button.
-
When using Vive, I leave P5k+ connected (but powered off) and connect the linkbox.
The idea is that only one headset can be connected (powered) at time so SteamVR starts the correct one.
Then as mentioned by @dogbite you will need to re-pair the controllers with the one you are using (or use different controllers for each, or pair one controller with one headset and the other with the other one).

Good Idea with the controllers. I still have the Vive Wands, So I can pair those with the Pimax and leave the Index controllers with the Index. I only use them for menus and OVRToolkit anyway.
Thanks for this - im fairly certain the index will work the same way as your Vive (without the link box in between)

Do you guys know if theres any significant changes I should be aware of since about 6 months ago? I kept seeing PiTool got multiple hz settings up to 120 now. What else has been updated?
I mainly use it for sim racing, keep in mind.

Your Pimax can be paired with both Wands and Index controllers once and either set will be recognized. If both are turned on, SVR seems to default to Index and the wands time out and turn off.

I would only turn on one at a time anyway.
If your 5k+ is serial 202 120hz doesn’t work but they will be releasing a firmware for these to support 110hz.
There have been other improvements.
Check
Pitool\Release Notes category for downloads and notes. New pitool just released. Not sure if packaged with latest firmware(haven’t downloaded an installed yet)
I wasnt aware that some might not work - that sucks. I’m probably one of those first few headsets that fall in Serial 202, but I’ll double check it later… Either way, I dont plan on using 120hz much anyway, since 90hz is the safest way to make sure theres no fps drops with sim racing.
I did recently build a new PC for just my sim racing (9900KS at 5.0, 2080Ti, 32gb @ 4000mhz), so I have been able to push the Index to 120hz, but there are times I’ve seen it drop to 60-80hz so I wouldnt bother pushing the Pimax to 120 since it needs more than the Index.

Can you link me to this? I cant seem to find the Release Notes Category. What’s the last stable PiTool version you think?
Thank you again @TrevorVR

I dont know what keeps happening but the Base Stations keep disconnecting from the headset every time i turn on iRacing. Anyone know what it could be. It loses them for some reason
@Heliosurge
Wheel connected? Try different USB port?

I think it was EMI from the motion rig i have. I moved the cable a bit and put a large ferrite on the cable and it started to work.

I honestly can’t compare the ease of use from the valve index to this.

Right. FF steering wheel or other gadgets like that are known to cause problems.
