Use with minidisplayport

Thanks for the info:grinning: I am also considering buying an egpu solution as I have a laptop with thunderbolt3. But how much is the performance degradation though TB3 for vr? I know for flat games it is about 20%

My understanding is that degradation is more so when playing flat monitors at 1080p where CPU becomes the bottle neck. At higher resolutions and graphics processing effects, then the performance degradation becomes less.

Also running the eGPU back through the buss to power the laptop screen chews up Thunderbolt bandwidth. Best to use it for external monitors or HMD. Keep other peripherals off the Thunderbolt Port.
Might be looking at 10% loss but that is my speculation.

With next gen Thunderbolt, tied into the CPU Lanes directly like PCIE, things will really come of age for laptops and eGPU setups.
