Too quiet on the reviews & impressions front

I kinda figured it would come up

I’ve played the following with good success (by using public profiles available in the vorpX config/cloud):

  • Borderlands GOTY (not done so haven’t tried the other ones)
  • BioShock Remastered
  • BioShock 2 Remastered (not done so haven’t tried Infinite yet, but that’s supposed to work really well too)
  • Duke Nukem Forever
  • Dishonored
  • Ghost of a Tale - this one actually has a mod that enables VR directly without vorpX.

Not Geo3D but still really good:

  • Aliens Colonial Marines
  • BulletStorm - Full Clip Edition
  • Shadow Warrior

You should probably go check their forums out or just ask for specific games (or suggestions) here on the OpenMR forums.

Thanks DrWilken. I doubt I’ll be bored for a while.

You’re welcome Capt…

For those of you who is about to enter skyrim vr for the first time. i’ll really recommend spending a little time on modding if you like your graphics.

same here…getting the right fit seems like a day-to-day thing, where I feel it’s great one day, but need another adjustment the next. I typed out a pretty sizable review after having the headset for 2-3 weeks but I have to finish it up, probably post it this weekend so people just getting theirs soon can see some tips (maybe to even help you too)

That would be awesome! I’m in Jersey and my 8kx is in Memphis…so close yet so far…lol

Also Jersey, I remember us talking about something possibly Jersey related on here, not sure what though, haha.
I think it was about going to a backer meetup or something.

I believe your correct! I do hope it ships out of Memphis soon…

I believe mine flew by plane from Memphis, and it was a priority delivery, so I received it early on the day of delivery.

Hi DrWilken,
I recently tried Halo 3 using VorpX in G3D. Pretty cool. I don’t know how anyone could complain about the 3D in the 8kX. Learned about through a Paradise Decay video and someone else i think Beardo Benjo discovered it was doable first, the profile first.

That 3d level i experienced in halo 3 was screen popping. Great nostalgia trip as i remember it being one of the first really fun games i experience after purchasing my original xbox 360.

Sadly i was trying to use a wireless xbox controller and switching between partial support and others the original game pad settings i never got to work quite right causing some weird frame hitching issue, worked find with vorpx controller settings though just didn’t want to remap so gave up for now.

Carpedium man, play what you can now , for you never know what may happen tomorrow.

Some people are just way too much of SDE snobs. I got a OG Vive after using a rift for 2 years. And the first time i realized what SDE actually looked like. Yes the SDE in vive is bad mostly when looking at flat primary colors like red. Because only one pixel of the RGB lights up.

However. as bad as the SDE was you get used to it after 10 seconds and then it hit me how much better the contrast , brightness and overall grey-grey detail i was missing on the rift. Also the Rift did something to try to eliminate sde by kind of softening the image. Sonthe image on the vibe is soooo crisp.

Honestly I sometimes go back to the OG vive and im floored by the contrast and sharpness. Despite the SDE.

Even after getting my 8kX i can see myself going back tonthe OG Vive to play certain games from time to time.

Lets get back on topic guys…

It looks like quite a decent number of backers got their 8kx’s. If you are one and have yet to post your review/impressions please do so. Video or text, either would be appreciated.

Well now, of course you’re right, but missing the opportunity to play a game is such a minor thing. I think I’d rather wait and not already be familiar with these games, to experience them freshly the way they ought to be experienced. Carpe totius.

It has been mentioned by others in the past, e.g. Evertec

It‘s not terrible though. But not absent either.

Gotta try that… :+1::slightly_smiling_face:
