Just tried Tempest with TriDef - works as well, perfect 3D, “Generic” profile.
Besides the fact Tempest doesn’t need TriDef, as it supports Stereo 3D by itself already.
But it works with TriDef as well.
Well… sometimes one is just blind…
=> It is “Head Bob” under First Person - set to 0, and shaking while moving is finally off.
I just played an hour and think, that slight motion sickness has become better now…
Oh man… I’ve just been blind…
What the heck is tempest?
Tempest: Pirate Action RPG on Steam (steampowered.com)
Cool pirate RPG game
(Sorry if there’s only the German description - although I set Steam to English language, that link seems to go back to the German one always.)
It’s English for me…
So, during the last days, I gave ESO quite a lot of gaming hours, both in normal 2D monitor mode as well as in VR via vorpX.
My personal result:
When playing in 2D with 4K upscaling and full graphics details, the game really looks quite awesome, considering it’s a MMORPG. Very very much details, a lot of fine textures and especially in already a little distance high resolution graphics, which add a lot to the atmosphere of a living fantasy world
But after having played this way for perhaps 3-4 hours, I admit I missed the depth and realistic feeling of 3D. And: My 47" TV stands 80cm before me - so even though this is quite huge compared to usual gaming monitors, everything feels much smaller since I got used to play a lot in VR.
So I went back to vorpX VR mode, FOV “normal”, PiTool 1.0 and SS 100%, reduced the resolution to 1440p and some of the graphic details, but not too much - and indeed: The game feels completely different, event though it looses a noticeable grade of graphic details / resolution.
But since I now have another fresh comparison between the two playing modes, I definitely will stick to the VR version: NPC’s really stand in front of me (okay - at least I am always sitting in my gaming chair ;)), attacking imps are floating/flying, and lurcher are larger than my character, so when combatting them, their head is really above me.
It’s a bit a pity it will probably last a couple of years until Gen3 HMD’s with even bigger resolutions come out - and the necessary GPU’s - but for my personal taste, right now already, in VR the gain of immersion really is much greater than the loss of details, which is noticeable, but far less significant than I experienced and rated first.
Finally, I attach some FPS graph from MSI Afterburner; GPU: RTX 3080
=> Most of the time, it is well playable. It is far from being perfect, a couple of moments are a bit annoying if the lack of FPS and slight stutter begins to become noticeable - but in total, it feels fluent and smooth enough, so I prefer it over less graphics details, resolution or playing in normal 2D mode, I think.
Perhaps, this experience is of some help for others.
