Are you at Pimax really going to send out a separate survey to each individual backer and sort of have a mail-conversation about each pledge? I find it hard to believe this is the best solution, there are 4000 backers =S
I mean there are so many loose ends now, the above just seems like an impossibly time-consuming task
Add to that :
-No finalized controller DESIGN, let alone no prototype controller
Still no working prototype HMD handed out to independent reviwers (well there is the recent review of V2 but there were sooo many questionmarks and things the reviewer was not allowed to talk about, not show lenses, cant use own PC
The issue with V3 which still has not been shown for public
I cant understand how people are so focused on the stretch-goals when there are SO many questionmarks about the actual product with less than a week left of kickstarter
Just putting this out there… not hard to automate a survey. Also, the headsets aren’t shipping for a few months so they certainly have more time to iron out the kinks and prepare for shipment.
I think the fact that they capped the pledge rewards today shows they are committed to fulfill their side of the agreement, and they want to be able to do it adequately. There is clearly a big demand for this headset, and if all goes well and the kickstarter supporters are happy, they are gonna make a lot more money off this headset.
Anyway, we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m only getting the headset so I won’t comment about the controllers, but I wouldn’t worry about the prototype versions and get hung up on the numbers. They will probably prototype the unit until it meets all the requirements, there is most likely no set number of revisions they will try before the final version is decided upon.
As for controller design? They do have a vive like prototype (v2 i think) with having that changing its shape/layout is not necessarily that hard especially since basing it on valve knuckles.
Also why they asked for feedback on proposed design concepts.
