400 limited run for a prototype release that is no longer a prototype release.
Now you have hijacked this topic long enough. This is an Artisan thread.

I didnât hijack the thread, Iâll admit I went on a slight tangent, talking about the price discrepancy - but the underlying point has been that Pimax can afford to give the Artisan the CK and the rubberised housing, consideirng how highly they inflated their margins on the 8KX, point proven by the fact of the 5K Supers features compared to the 5K+ for only $100 extra, conversely the 8KX is $300 extra than the 8K+ with the only added benefits being the metal buttons and chevron, improved scaler chip and the supposed adjustments in design to facilitate extra cooling.
Agreed will move the off-topic in a new thread
My posts arenât nonsense (nice you edited that part out of your above post, were you concerned Iâd flag you for being spiteful?) or offtopic.
Itâs still about Artisan. I wasnât the one who derailed the subject matter from Nolo to the Comfort kit and housing, that was Sweviver and Sebastian.
Whatâs nonsense is your attitude, Pimaxâs price discrepancies and bait and switch advertising fooling many people into purchasing Artisan under the premise it had the better housing because it was initially advertised as a Vision product.
Edit: (reached daily post limit)
I took screenshots of the whole thread, so if you want to try bury it under the rug by dismantling the context of the replies and deleting posts when merging it Iâll just upload it to an imgur album and post the context of this whole thread to reddit
Swe started this thread âTesting Artisan with Nolo trackingâ
Now itâs everything but.
Edit. Sorry if there was some collater damage, kinda fed up with the fact that after 2-3 posts the thread topic doesnât apply anymore.
I am 100% the same opinion.
Would rather like hearing about the artisan, this is not the place for ranting, and sorry @Mantidtings, the iterations of arguments seem also rather meaningless 2 me.
Edited my post before you could even answer it. Reason was, I thought that @Heliosurge couldâve mistaken my post as blaming him going off-topic alone.
Talking about editing a post:
Oh and btw, got flags on your post. Well done bro.
Guessing he doesnât realize edit history can be reviewed.
Still same old song & . I look at it this way pimaxâs 5k & 8kX are sold at around under 15% to 20% of the Xtalâs 5k and new 8k headset. Why 20%? To include the Eyetracking Module.
So while the price might be high itâs a small fraction of the only current competitor.
The 8KX is Pimaxâs premium high-end product (and to some extent the 5K+ Super is too). High end products typically include a higher profit margin: Consider the price of nVidiaâs RTX 2080 Ti. In addition, the 8KX has required significant engineering development, which Pimax needs to recoup.
Anyway, Pimax is free to set their prices however they like, using whatever marketing strategy they have developed. They are not obligated to set their prices solely based on the price of the components.
You know, @Mantidtings⌠I wish we could have put the RE housing on the Artisan, including a MAS, Comfort Kit, NOLO, 170FOV, 4K OLEDs and sold it for 199USD.
Would have been so much better, right?
Oh and why not include a wireless module, eye tracking, hand tracking and AR cameras for another $20. And make it standalone of course. With a built in 2080Ti.
Imagine how easy life would have been. One headset to rule them all. What a nice dream!
Câmon make it happen !!
business should be a win-win situation.
when the hmd housings cracks, itâs legitimate to be annoyed as you know you have to RMA the thing, but having a go at Pimax by requesting addons and freebees left right and center on an entry level headset, does not make sense, is unfair and borderline rude when push comes to shove.
