SweViver's X-Plane 11 VR video - Off topic: Heated discussion of desire for more through-the-lens shots

Ok that’s good.

Because while I agree that more information is better (given that we have to make decision [5k+ or 8k] without being able to properly verify what it is we’re choosing between), I do think the way you chose to initially make that point was far from ideal, and Sweviver wasn’t crazy to read it the way he did.

And since Sweviver making more through the lens pictures without the additional equipment (which we’re agreed would be unreasonable to expect him to buy) is unlikely to provide much useful information. So it makes sense, that he’d rather not do it.

a criticism that sounds sweet as a compliment has not yet been invented :innocent:

His reference to the “confusion” was due to someone trying to use his lensless photos for comparing FOV between headsets, which all the testers have confirmed is identical for 5k+ and 8k. I’ll admit I missed that on first reading of the thread.

Hey @SweViver, I know getting through the lens shots are tough, and the ones you’ve provided are super, but providing an image comparison where the headset is actually a bit further back than necessary is what I think people really want. Check out this Tested comparison below with the Vive Pro vs Vive. They actually brought up that SteamVR menu and then took a few steps BACKWARDS to get that image (I tried to repeat that type of picture myself). Both images don’t look great, and not what you’d see in the headset, since it’s a “distance” shot, but it helps exaggerate the differences in a good way.

I think an image of something where you’re a few steps further away than necessary can help us get a better judge of the image clarity/SDE in a 2D picture.

For instance, try moving to the “back seat” of a car in a racing game and getting an image comparison from there. Considering that Tested video, it doesn’t have to be perfectly aligned or still either, since the differences are clear.

to be on the safe side. nobody said “get the 8k”, anywhere, ever…

-MRTV goes for the 5k as we all very well know

-Voodoo for example has his own reasons to go for the 8k himself but recommends the 5k to most users,
left “a window open” open though for those that may invest in 2080ti.
He even bought 2 rtx but as expected it was not of any gain for VR.

-SWE also repeatly stated that he thinks that the 5k is the better product but unlike MRTV he is not bashing the 8k and tries to point out if the 8k may have advantages in certain use cases.

I usually respect ur input a lot but in this case you have come to the wrong conclusion here. But this may have happend since Voodoo’s channel is german only and seeing him using the 8k may have led to wrong assumptions. “he is using the 8k most of the time…so that is what he recommends to go for” (apart from YouTube Translation issues)

Could you please tell me if my macro shots didnt give you more facts than anyone else has?
Are the shots “my opinion”?
Or all the other through the lens shots in my full review an opinion?
Are all the FPS numbers and performance visible 100% of the time in my videos MY opinion?
Is the functionality of Pimax 8K in my 3 hour review my opinions?
Is the gaming on GTX 1070 with Pimax my opinion?
Are the non working games on Pimax my opinion?

I give you more facts that anyone with a Pimax right now, but the problem is that YOU decide not to believe them. And thats entirely your problem, not mine

If you prefer Sebastians content thats totally fine for me  I couldnt care less, and I think Seb is great.

But please dont tell me Im not giving you facts.
You would not know a sh*t if I didnt give you the facts I already did.

Why all conspiracy? Why would you think Im hiding anything?
All Im saying is that I am not interested in buying microscopes to do stupid subpixel images because I find it not interesting. Kille me.

I look forward to your microscope photos/videos once you get your StarVR man, I really do!

By the way. I thought this thread was about X-Plane  … which I find much more interesting than sub pixels.

Seriously guys. You should start enjoying VR a bit more, rather than analyzing yourself to death. X-Plane 11 on Pimax blows away my Rift, Vive and Odyssey. In every case and scenario. For some reason, thats nothing you care about, apparently

Oh and btw… Sebastian @mixedrealityTV could you PLEASE do that microscope video…like TODAY, so the whole forum can finally get satisfied. Im obviously not able to satisfy my audience with my videos “lacking facts” lol.

Gosh I gotta take some time off this forum I think. Just like I did with reddit. Its getting way over my head lately. The more I try to help, and the more efforts I put into this, the more they try to kill me

I would love to, but I don’t have my Pimax headset yet.

I personally think sweviver pretty much covered the pimax headsets as much as one could ask for.

He’s not a professional reviewer making his living from this and to my surprise he actually gone out of his way to give us so much in depth testings. While they may not be the perfect tests you look for but please give credit where it’s due.

The more videos I seen the more I realize there’s only so much you can find out from them, and really have to check the pimax out in person to know more. I agree with sweviver on more videos and more pixel peep only cause more confusion. Because things get lost in translation, what you see in the video may be different to what you see in pimax.

Criticism although necessary but perhaps the choice of words has its wisdom as well, we should not hurt the people trying nothing but help.

Please stop feeding the Trolls and concentrate on the work that the rest of us are enjoying. You can’t let one or two posters get to you: you know what you’ve done and so do we, you don’t need to prove anything to anyone!
Thank you for your work, can’t wait until I get mine!

I think you can only help to an extent, then they have to make their own choices on their own.

Personally i prefer watching someone doing what he loves than someone trying to cope with some target audience expectations sweet spot.
People at work, someone on stage, musicians, artists, athletes, my kids, YouTubers. Especially on YouTube thats kinda the point for me and the main reason my television consumer behaviour is just dying a slow and more or less painful death. Watching People loving what they do is just so much more satisfying, joyful and entertaining and destressing than watching someone working towards expectations or not loving/caring what he’s doing.
In the german language there is a word for this specific phenomenon “fremd schämen” that could be translated into “to be ashamed of others”, but its more of a physical cognition or a feeling, than some social unease, and its just the perfect counterpart to the joy of watching someone who loves what he does.
So please @SweViver continue doing what you love --(i mean me personally i couldn’t care less about hardcore simming, but thats not my point. I just love watching you doing this. And btw youre doing this with my soon …or some other time… to be delivered Pimax hmd)-- And please don’t give in to our fellow influencers and dearest of trolls, and start flushing ugly peep shows all over the www, nobody needs it and tbh i don’t want to see them anywhere else later or now too. sometimes i stumble over those famous pics out of this forum somewhere else on the web (and they’re just everywhere someone writes sth about pimax). and it just disgusts me suddenly.

cheers and chin up Marcin, i’d send some cheap beer from Berlin if i could just right now.

Please, do not use straw man argument, it does not work well on forums where you can verify every single words. No one says you haven’t did enough, you’ve done a lot and we’re grateful for that. But that is not the argument in this discussion.

The argument is that many of us would like to know the exact structure of the screens, you could have given us this information, but you chose not to proceed not because you didn’t, but for the reasons I explained well above. Reasons I don’t agree with.

I completely agree, the microscope is a waste of money. You said you could use your Canon 6D, with your macro lens and extension tubes, by first removing the headset lenses, shooting unfiltered raw photos. I have some experience in photography, and I think it would be a good result

Again, not the lack of these images I’m criticizing, but the reasons that led you to this choice.

I have an IQ below average, so I am allowed to say that

HE DOESN’T WANT TO GIVE YOU THE CLOSE UP PICS OF PANELS FOR WHATEVER REASON, RESPECT THAT AND STFU. WAIT FOR YOUR OWN HEADSETS IF YOU HAVEN’T SOLD YOUR PLEDGE AND CHECK IT YOURSELVES

Respecting someone’s reasons does not mean losing the right to disagree. Those are my reasons, too.

Thank you for informing me about the IQ issue, or I would have complained about the caps.

It’s not an issue to me.

Exactly this. @SweViver not sure why you take everything to personal and feel people are bashing you. All we said that we thought that just when it got interesting you decided to stop digging because ‘it would only confuse people’. To me it really sounds that you don’t want people to find out the truth about the Pimax 8k panels because they wouldn’t like that truth (just like they didn’t like the truth now, although we still don’t know for sure it’s the truth, since we’d need better photo’s). Really not sure for what other reason you’d stop digging when you’re almost there.

Sweviver is not obligated to give you (us) any videos, pics or anything, and you (me) can’t expect him to fulfill all of your wishes.
