I have only had my 8K+ for about a week and trying out some of my games to see what they look like and get a feel for the controllers (had Rift and Rift S. How do you deal with the pop-ups like do you want to play in VR or I get a small one where I have to hit play but I do not change the scene size. What I have done in the past is set up my game and the last thing I do is put on my headset. If I just play steamVR do I need to use Pitools. If I try to load my Oculus games without launching from Pitools it will not lunch.
How do you start your games? Right now I launch Stream, then Steam VR then Pitools then my game from inside Pitools.
Just start Steam game from steam with steam vr running, dont need pitool (what you need autostarts).
Recently, SteamVR has started up displaying a VR menu. Since I don’t have VR controllers (because I use a HOTAS for Elite D), I cannot dismiss the menu. Therefor, I start PiTool and verify the game settings and that my base station is detected. Then, I usually exit PiTool (to reduce any overhead) and just start the game. I don’t need to start Steam, since I’ve configured it to launch at startup. SteamVR auto-launches and then automatically starts fpsVR.
You can always start the game from steam without starting it from steam home, I dont have steam home running.
As i understand it, if you do not run the steam vr game from pitools you lack the individual settings profile and proper support of oculus games.
I do all from within pitools.
Start steam vr from within pitools-button “start steam vr” to check applied steam vr specific game settings (resolution, etc.).
If all is set i close steam vr and start the steamvr game from the game settings profile (lower left, start game) to make sure all game related pitools settings are set.
For oculus games you should add the game to your pitools games library and the icon should state oculus in the added icon. Then start from there.
