Steam vr tracking breaking down mid game

Had this problem for a few months now i honestly think its just a steamvr update that’s broken my tracking . It loses tracking mid game and the only way to get it back is to restart the whole steamvr again . Its become an absolute nightmare wasn’t too bothered before but i just got my valve index controllers today i wanna try properly . All i got was 15mins from superhot and this headset let me down.

Please fix the tracking back to whatever it was like 4 updates ago it was working perfectly for me back then . Before you go on to say its the lighthouses no its not i tried the vive a month ago and it was working.

Ive even tried single lighthouses with the same problem occurring .

Are you sure it’s a Pitool related problem?

Please post details as others seem to have good tracking & some have issues. Something in your setup maybe causing issues. Ie lighthouse angles & height may need adjustment vs your vive setup to improve Pimax tracking due to tracking sensor positions differing from vive.

You can try to check the latest log(s) in AppData\Local\Pimax\runtime (as far as I remember) for hints when it happens.

I don’t what details i should post some games like creed will lose tracking instantly and other games like superhot i can play for 10mins and then it loses tracking . Every game loses tracking at some point i tried 1 tracker and made sure there was no reflection or anything it just loses tracking mid games or st the start of gsmes.

Definitely bugged somehow something too sensitive maybe the tracking jn the headset …

Have you tried switching your Pimax cable to other USB ports? There might be some sort of USB issue which is disrupting tracking info data.

That sounds very unlikely but no i haven’t tried switches usb drive yet… Will try it out tomorrow

As Neal said switching Usb ports can help as you might have 5v supply issues. Usually a red port can be best. However sometimes it can also be related to the Usb chipset on a port is not as stable.

If your not having tracking issues on all games it’s possible instability in Usb. While the Vive might work pimax hmd may have stronger power draw. A powered hub or Usb add on card may do the trick.

With losing tracking are you touching the headset with your hand? As some experience tracking lose when adjusting headset during play.

As @DrWilken said check the logs for details. @SweViver & @mixedrealityTV did a livestream boxing match on creed?

for it sound more like usb problems, if the tracking just gets lost (like when you cover the headset with our hands) the tracking and picture comes back in 2-3 seconds

I don’t know if the latest pitool fixed it or me changing usb ports but it’s up and running again had a fun time playing with the Pimax + knuckles today.

tracking was always rock solid for me since getting the 5k+ end of february. now i lose tracking completly and have to restart the headset. only thing that changed is the win10 version
