Pimax 8K X is the best headset for playing VR
at only 1299 $
So I can only buy an Artisan …
Mah…I dont think so…
Is the best only for Flight Simmer
About that, I heard some interesting story.
Here in Korea there is a VR experience zone operated by official Pimax reseller which has Artisan, 5K+, 8K+(both pioneer and final version), and prototype 8KX with prototype MAS.
When I visited there to try them, I asked staff about XTAL 5K(They also distribute XTAL for enterprise uses at about 12k$) and heard that XTAL 5K has no distortion at all and can match up with 8KX in terms of clarity and SDE. I could not believe his words except distortion but he was so confident about that.
xtal got a clearer picture than the 8k x but the price tag of almost 8k$ is too much …
Make your order, and enjoy it
@VR-TECH - have you heard back from the StarVR team? And are you allowed to tell us the result?
StarVr has “wait for an MRTV or VooDoo review” written all over it
If nothing else, it seems to me that there is a lot of different people meaning different things, with same words.
E.g, when I, for my part, say “clarity”, I speak of how clear the optical sharpness is - lenses that are well focussed and have no scatter; High clarity lets me better resolve small details, including the screen door effect.
Plenty others use the term when talking about low resolution, or otherwise fuzzy graphics, judging the image, which is its own class of considerations, instead of the actual clarity.
One likely cause for less SDE in the XTal is that, AFAIK, the screens are larger, and less magnified by the lenses. It is easier to make screens with a large fill factor when each pixel is (…to exaggerate, for ease of picturing) 10x10mm, than when they are 1x1mm.
MRTV said the XTAL doesn’t feel right in terms of world scale.
they promised to fix it
Yes, they followed up with more questions regarding my project. I have already submitted the info. I take it will be likely they have limited units, so they seem to be vetting the potential buyers which makes sense.
All roads lead back to the Pimax 8K X lol
You could buy the 8K X, with eye tracking, hand tracking, wireless, and more, for many times less than XTAL price and probably less than the StarVR price. By the time StarVR releases a consumer version, we will probably have the next gen HP headset or elimination of distortions for the 8K X (probably involves eye tracking).
Keep in mind Enterprise price point usually means Enterprise level support. But for majority of us only have consumer sized pockets and per use desires vs requirements.
Unfortunately the lottery commission is ignoring my requests to become an Enterprise.
Even with eyetracking the FOV on the StarVR will remain considerably bigger. The issue I still have with the Pimax FOV even on the large option is that you can clearly feel you are wearing a form of mask. The lenses feel tapered on the peripheral region. Although within the focus area will be sharper, the aspect of presence is better on the StarVR.
That said, it will be a great addition for Pimax to have eyetracking.
I suspect StarVR One could have some great applications like Robotic interface where 1:1 scale and controls to do precision work a must with tools.
