1 - When I launch PVE for the first time at windows startup with “Start Pimax Vr Home” checked, the interactions work. But after it doesn’t work anymore after launching a game etc…

2 - When I launch PVE from PVRHome.exe for the first time at windows start with “Start Pimax Vr Home” unchecked, the interactions don’t work.

Thanks @Phoeniix21 Let me go through this later tonight (when Im back home again).

Meanwhile, please try the new version 0.25, which have a different and more “safe” initialization now (been working on it all day heh) so it might help! But please read the ReadMe.txt first - very important!

I just re-uploaded the v25, had a minor issue I forgot to add (a simple line of code).
Might not help you in this case though…

I really need to investigate whats wrong on your side.

Question, @Phoeniix21:

  • does this also occur after running a “working” first startup, launching an Oculus game and then quitting it to jump back to PE? Is the UI interaction dead after the first Oculus game launch as well?

This all brings be to believe that all is caused by the fact that the initialization of PiTool settings goes wrong on your side (after SteamVR quit). It could be caused due to the fact that meanwhile the init is made, HMD has no tracking and refuses to send a response.

This always happens when PVRHome.exe is launched a second time or the first time when I manually launch PVRHome.exe after windows start.

My question is, what is the difference between PVE executed at windows startup with the box checked image and the other executions of PVRhome.exe as mentioned above.

In summary :
1 - At Windows startup, when I launch Pitool with the box checked “Start Pimax VR home”, everything works.

2 - In case everything works the first time, after starting any VR applications (SteamVR, Oculus Games…), and after quitting the game, PVE restarts well but all interactions stop working.

3 - At Windows startup, when I launch Pitool with the “Start Pimax VR home” checkbox unchecked, and I run PVE manually, the interactions don’t work.

What is the difference between PVRHome.exe executed at windows startup with Pitool because I checked the box and PVRHome.exe executed manually or automatically by Pitool after exiting a VR application.

Im starting to believe this is caused by a known issue with Standard Input Module (that reads mouse/other input events). The issue has been there since 2017, and many input plugins and scripts still have problems with this, due to the fact EventSystem sometimes does some weird stuff when application loses focus:

Im trying to find solutions for this, and one was to simply remove Standard Input Module from being used and loaded at all (as its not currently used anyway by PE).

Could you try these 2 temporary versions of PE, please?

Version 1: Disabling Standard Input Module
(download password: pimax)

Version 2: Disabling Standard Input Module + EventSystem delay - starts after initialization is made (controller interaction starts working after 2 seconds, right after when PiTool values are initiated)

Thats lovely news, what a relief hehe…

I somehow knew it was related to that damn input event handler…been struggling with that before, even back in the days I used an Oculus input event handler (which i replaced), the standard input module gave problems :slight_smile:

Also, skip the second version then :slight_smile: The first version is better, because the delay in second version feels more like a poor workaround and quite unnecessary.

I will mark this as SOLVED :slight_smile:

I will add this fix to the next beta build.
