Snowing/sparkling pixel issue - common solutions tried don't work, except cable replacement

I was very happy to receive my Pimax 5k+ headset but, from first day of use, I got the sparkling, snowing, pixel issue. Received my headset in Dubai in late July but only used it back home in Uzbekistan in mid August. I was hoping the faulty cable issue would be fixed by the time I ordered the headset but that does not seem to be the case.20190817_183317_1

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. I am not a backer but just bought the headset on your website. I submitted a ticket to support (ticket nubmer:17,654) but hope that the issue will get noticed asap.

Sparkling/snowing/flickering pixels probably due to faulty cable or cable contacts inside the headset. Tried reseating cable, aluminium foil, switching displayport on video card, using different usb port, using htc vive adapter - the problem comes back in 2-5 minutes. No such issues on HTC vive.

My specs: Pimax 5k+, 2600k cpu @4.3 ghz, 1080 ti, 16 gb 2133 mhz ram

Definitely sounds like an issues with the cable (bad shielding).

They’ve been pretty fast at sending replacement cables out (I got one replaced too).

Make sure You have also provided the YouTube clip in the issue.

@anon74848233, @Matthew.Xu or @SweViver can get the ball moving… :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for your message. Did the cable replacement solve your issue? I hope it is not because of bad connectors on the headsets themselves.

Yes, it solved it completely for me and many others.

There was apparently a bad batch of cables from the supplier:

Sounds great, so some people whose problems weren’t solved even with the replacement cable probably got another bad cable…

Could be, yeah… :wink:
