🔍 Showing you the 8k's Screen door effect and pixels

PIMAX 8K screen door effect and pixels:

Many here are wondering what the screen door effect on the 8k will look like and how small the pixels are.
Well, i did a bit of hunting and found something i believe can show you.

I remembered there was a Arizona sunshine through the lens video that didn’t have that flickering going on so I decided to watch it again. And then I noticed… At exactly 0:30 seconds the camera refocuses and for a very brief moment… there they are, pixels!

I know, it’s easy to miss but it’s there.

Now… For myself I wanted to compare that to my current headset, the Vive.
It took a while but i found a very similar looking shot that gave me what i needed and put them side to side.

After a bit of tinkering and cropping i came to a pretty good comparison, so i decided to share it.

I don’t see those pixels when i am watching the live video…plus the one on Vive is zoom out so far and the one on the 8K is up close.

Thanks for sharing the image! Pimax has noticeably less SDE. However, I notice a lot of chromatic aberration; that is, red and blue color fringes. I though this was corrected in the software. Does Pimax’s driver not correct for this (typical) artifact of inexpensive lens, like the Rift and Vive do?

Yes it is very hard to see. I thought i was imagining things at first. Pause it and make the video fullscreen. You should see it on a monitor. Don’t expect to see anything doing this on your phone…

When either your eye or a camera is focused on the pixels instead of the game. The distance of that virtual object does not matter. The pixels don’t change size when you’re looking at something close or far away…
People think the easyest way to show the sde is by looking at something closely but that’s actually wrong. The easyest way to show it would be to look at something in one color. It can be a blue cube the size of the eiffel tower in the distance or a small blue cube right in front of your face. That does not matter. You would perceive the sde just the same…
