We don’t know if it is exact. I’d wager it’s not exact as in those early 2016 days pimax’s Oculus compatability was stronger on some titles using Sdk 0.6 - 0.8.
In the case of Batman vs Black Bat it seems for the most part they did indeed create 2 almost identicle “Bat Detectives” with slighr variences.
Oculus headset was at one time patched using Wine to plug into the Oculus Sdk to give linux support.
The simple truth without code or providing proof as iVRy did with NoloVR using his code. It is only a claim. Without proof it is simply an unconfirmed theory no proof to make it true or untrue.
Revive uses SteamVR & is intended to breach Closed minded FB; of which Oculus founder has shown he doesn’t support that & as a result injected support. Pimax does not use steam to run oculus programs. For example pimax has not had to patch programs like revive has or had the option to do.
The interesting thing is he used to have better support on pimax headsets before he was aware of them. Sure Pimax’s native solution worked better(with titles that worked well) over being layered on SteamVR.
We just need pimax to start adding to release details what Oculus Sdk is supported in a release. & hopefully they can start being able to release patches between releases (similar to gpu load Dll @SweViver obtained & provided).
What’s really funny is that someone whose whole philosophy is to open up VR to as many headsets as possible would deliberately sabotage a headset from accessing VR content. Because it makes absolutely no sense.
What’s really, really, really funny though is questioning the integrity of a legend in the VR community who has put countless hours into making Oculus games compatible across as many headsets as possible for free.
No doubt he has done a service for other headsets to be able to use Oculus titles. But doesn’t mean another headset manufacturer couldn’t have added support to oculus content without his code. As said pimax p4k had oculus support & even in windows was recognized as a dk2. And by his own words it seems odd to say as many headsets as possible as he has said he doesn’y support(maybe intend) to support 3rdparty Steamvr drivers.
Ie that would mean he only intends Revive to support Index & Vive as all other headsets are 3rdparty (WMR/iVRy/Trinus/RiftCat etc…)
If he has direct proof he should release it. It is as simple as that. If they used his code in 2016 then yes shame on them for not mentioning it & providing code back to the originator. But if they didn’t use his code as claimed than shame on him for making an accusation that wasn’t true if that is the case.
Pimax is not using Oculus sdk to redirect to ateamvr(openvr) calls as it shuts down steamvr to run Oculus. So at base look they seem to be doing similar but different things. Otherwise Pitool would not shut down steamvr to run Oculus programs.
Perhaps with opensourcing pitool if that is part of the opensourcing may prove things one way or the other.
At the end of the day it’s a question of who has earned my trust. CrossVR has. Pimax hasn’t. If CrossVR says that Pimax took his code, I believe him 100%.
Which now we have the truth. You believe him because you want to; not because he has provided proof of his hypothesis. Based on what he created. At one time we had many Drive compression programs. When MS released Doublespace it was proven MS used Stacker’s code works & had to remove it. Til later where they either created something new or license use of code & reintroduced it under name DriveSpace.
Difference between just making a claim & proving it.
Well the good news if CrossVR is not actively trying to implement code to prevent pimax compatability as he is respectable as said(no reason to believe otherwise). Than he needed add support for any Headset that runs in SteamVR. As there are only 3 real steamvr headsets on the Market Og Vive, Vive Pro & Index.
As it will work on it’s own. Now if we can compile his code from source it can be examined as well.
Pimax said they’d go OpenSource. Don’t argue you two, there’s enough subtle brawls in these forums already. We need a virtual forum for that, with beers and pingpong
I’m back, haven’t you heard the news, it’s nothing to do with pimax it’s crossvr and valves fault. Oh yeah and vive wands are crap and it’s valves fault there’s no Basestations yet. Non of you would have played a 6 dof game without those crappy wands and pimax promised backers Basestations not valve . I feel feel for you mate instead of communicating with backers on here, it’s silent so people argue amongst themselves or post wild conspiracy theories. I’ve bought defector and guess what, I haven’t had it working yet, I can’t complain as the index isn’t listed as supporting oculus games but the pimax is, isn’t it? I can see you’re trying to put pressure on pimax for updates, shame everybody didn’t follow suit instead of blaming everyone else except pimax and diverting attention with suppositions or comparing pimax to a poorly performing company to make them seem better. Pimax forum, pimax headsets, pimax software. Steam vr isn’t out of date but pitool currently is. If pimax communicate with valve as often as backers then I can’t see them ever listing it as supported on steam.

Why would they need to steal to update their own code?
Revive only directly supports HTC & Index as all others are 3rdparty that may or not work with Revive.
Revive uses Steamvr for Steamvr headsets. Pimax uses it’s own Driver/render outside of steamvr(why it closes Steam instead of using it). Both naturally have to use Oculus Sdk. Because unlike Revive Pimax doesn’t use steamvr to run oculus programs it needs it’s own chaperone system. Revive has the benefit of not having to develop this as it uses Steamvr & thus things like Steamvr Chaperone system.
Edit: @Heliosurge, I’m lowering your grade to a C for changing the title from “Lepper’s Revive Rant” to “Revive Rant Unvalidated.” I liked the original title better. Altering it makes you look ineffectual.
