I installed youtube vr en steam to view videos of 4k, 5k, 8k and 12k in 360 degrees in one of the channels subscribed called 360 Vídeo Airpano.
I have already seen videos in my oculus Go and I can easily select between their different resolutions getting to play videos in 12k without problems with the benefit of resolution.
My surprise is when I have tried these days in my pimax 8k and can not select any resolution above 4k.
Because this is why… It is supposed to be selectable even better than in my oculus Go
Did anyone else try it?
And I suppose you checked the videos to see if higher is possible on other devices?
Then this indeed weird. Could it be that pitool sends a limited res option to Steam Vr?
If tested on another virtual reality device in the Go.
I can perfectly reproduce the quality 5k, 8k and 12k without problems.
In Pimax 8k I found that limitation of not being able to reproduce above 4k.
In youtube steam vr .
I don’t know if anyone else can prove it.
I can’t remember too much, but I try my 5k+ yesterday. It look resolution is more than 2160p.
@noro reports youtube steam ap not good.
Never expect sharpness of youtube vr, download to play by other software is better for me, but inconvenient.
The question… is because YoutubeVR from Steam or Pimax themselves.
Limit the resolution to 4k
When in other devices like Oculus Go I can take advantage of the maximum resolution in the videos 5k 8k and 12k.
Is this a photo through a 8K lens?
Yes, I do.
But don’t do too much analysis with her.
Because my phone and its image stabilization don’t really help to show what you see from the lens.
I liked what I see, it seems everything is readable and legible
It looks terrible:sweat_smile:
I already back home, test Virtual Reality Diver, can choose 4320p.
That resolution you say is 4k like the one I have selected in the image I uploaded in the first message.
What we want is to get to reproduce resolutions 5k 8k and 12k.
As I can do in the Oculus Go
Search in youtube the 360 vídeo Airpano channel and you have 360 videos with those resolutions and test
The youtube channel I refer you to is this 360 video Airpano
okay may I try to test on pc first to check that I can choose that resolution.
My pc has only.
The video description has a caveat:
YouTube does not support 12K 360 video yet, so the video was down-sampled from 12K to 8K. But still you need an extraordinary computer power for watching 8K 360° videos.
In oculus go there is no problem of choice of resolution.
In the Pc. The limitation can put your screen, etc…
The rare thing is that in visors as the Go allows to select the different resolutions.
Maybe my Oculus Go’s YT VR is outdated because videos only have quality option of Auto to Highest without showing actual resolution.
Oculus Go’s browser with YT shows maximum resolution of 8K.
