Ah ok - so it’s present in 103 with Brainwarp? Such a shame
It’s not only present, it’s evern worse now. Instead of a ripple I see a terrible stutter. The ripple was more subtle.
Yikes. I was about to upgrade too. I’ll stick with 91
Please try the new version, it would be great to have more people testing it. You can always uninstall it and go back to 0.91 like I did.
Did you upgrade and then downgrade your firmware also?
Nope, I did not touch the firmware. Just using the old 0.91 fixes the problem, the firmware does not affect anything apparently. Got the firmware upgraded with 0.103 but it works perfectly with 0.91.
Weird. So what FW are you running then?
Firmware is 2.1.255.191, installed by PiTool 0.103
Oh ok… but to be clear, when you went back to 91, you didn’t have to revert your FW?
Nope, I didn’t have to do it.
I can confirm there is serious stuttering with the new beta tool. Went back to 91
Maybe it’s an Nvidia issue? RTX issue?
If someone found shutting effect after back to 91, you should uncheck the smart smoothing in new version and reinstall 91 again, I found that issue.
Please guys, people with this ripple/stuttering effects with PiTool newer than 0.91, post your system specs here so maybe we can find something that our computers have in common. Here’s mine:
- AMD Ryzen 1800x
- Asus Crosshair VI motherboard
- 32 GB RAM
- NVIDIA Titan X Pascal
- Windows 10 Pro
Latest video drivers and Windows update. I also disabled all antivirus and monitoring software (MSI Afterburner).
Do you guys also have another VR headset? I have an Oculus Rift so I have Oculus Home installed and configured. When I use the Pimax, I unplug the Rift from the HDMI port on the video card and I also unplug the Oculus sensors from the USB ports.
I have the same stutter in the beta and the tearing before in 95. Can someone link me version 91 for testing?
i9 9900k at 5ghz
32gb ddr4 ram
RTX 2080
Windows 10 Pro
I have the same issues.
With the 103 version I get pretty consistent stuttering no matter which game I try out.
I does not matter if I turn Brainwarp on or off, or in combination with Parallel Projection.
I’ve also tried different refresh rates and FOV modes in different combinations.
The .95 version causes me headache due to the vertical tearing in the center of the view,
and so only the .91 version is working flawlessly for me.
System specs :
- Intel i7 5960X @ 4 GHz
- Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard
- Corsair AX1200i 1200W PSU
- SSD’s in RAID0
- 32 GB DDR4 RAM
- NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080Ti (SLI) (currently running non -SLI due to incompatibility with most VR games)
- Asus ROG Swift PG348Q (3440x1440 @ 100Hz) as primary and single monitor
- Windows 10 Enterprise
I’m running the latest video drivers and Windows update. I also disabled all antivirus and monitoring software (MSI Afterburner).
I also have a “HTC Vive Pro” connected, working fine. I have Oculus Home installed and configured for the Oculus exclusives. No problems there.
So we got Intel i7, Intel i9 and AMD Ryzen. Regarding graphics cards, we got Titan X Pascal, RTX 2080 and GTX 1080TI. I think the only thing we guys have in common (besides Windows 10) is 32 GB of RAM, but I would be extremely shocked if that was the problem.
Maybe its related to ram speed?
My ram is only 2133MHz.
Mine is 3200, but I don’t think RAM speed could affect it. RAM size is difficult to believe to cause the problem, unless the software has some kind of memory leak and something bugs out with huge amounts of RAM available. Unlikely anyway, but you never know.
i7 8700K overclocked to 5GHz
2080Ti overclocked
32GB 3200Mhz DDR4
