[Replied]5k+ does this look like light bleed?

Hey Guys,

I would like your oppinion on my heaset. From the video and pictures I’ve seen on this thread, it looks like I have the same problem as you guys. When I plug a completely black video, I can see yellowish color coming from the sides. So I wrote to support and they replied this:

“Hi,Light bleed is cause of LCD screen is passive light-emitting, its backlight is always bright, its physical properties determine that it can not be as dark as active light-emitting OLED screen in black background. It is normal.”

What do you think?

Thanks a lot guys!

My replacement arrives next week. Can’t wait to get it back. It’s taken a while but they are delivering. It wasn’t any longer than my Vive replacement (“liquid damage”). It seems like they are getting their systems dialed in.

I have that as wel but when it was projecting a noticeable yellow glow while I was wearing it. Do you notice it when you use it?

When I play Elite or any dark games, I can see it yes. In black loading screen, It’s way obvious.

How did you manage to get a replacement? From the response I got, They won’t give me one

That plus I also had dead pixels and housing was cracking.

Just got a feedback from Pimax Support:

Sorry for the inconvenience,we have checked this issue internally and think of it is normal, thanks.

For the Pimax 5k+, is it normal that a pure black video output a non uniform color in the screen? I know it’s not OLED and the black aren’t pure black, but I was under the impression that I would still get at least a uniform dark grey color. Is everyone else having the same kind of ouput as me?

Thanks!

Just received my 5K+ replacement and it is great so far. The housing is way better, no dead pixels, and NO BLACK DOTS!! NO BLACK DOTS!! I lucked out, no black dots is the best thing. However, I still get the yellowish glow a little bit so I guess its normal. I just started realizing it will go away depending how you angle the hmd. It’s a weird distortion but it isn’t bothering me any longer. I think the blacks are better in the replacement as well…

I have to say after not having the Pimax for a month and having to go back to the Vive Pro, and then just getting my Pimax back today, it’s obvious there’s a massive difference between the two. Resolution is much higher in the Pimax with less visible pixels and the SDE is way less in the Pimax. It has much better clarity as well. Of course, the FOV is a show stopper. Sooo freakin happy to have it back. Distance made the heart grow fonder.

I think it’s normal, mine looks exactly like this. It’s probably a fresnel lens thing, if my eyes are in sweetspot i don’t see any light bleeding.
