I would just like to clarify one point. You wrote you reflashed the headset several times. I assume that in order to do so, you had to manually put it into DFU mode, then flash it and then put it back into the normal mode.
While the device was in DFU mode, was it identified by Windows as “ST Device in DFU mode”? In other words, I am asking if DFU mode was/is correctly recognized by Windows, while the headset (native) mode is not.
Pimax support got it working! i reset cable on HMD itself, then they did a firmware update. just a simple cable reset… GRRRRR! Just happy it works! Thank you for your time and help!
Can you elaborate? I encountered this exact issue after a crash. Upon booting up and running PiTool, it all of a sudden ran a firmware update that did not complete successfully. The USB keeps connecting/disconnecting constantly etc, absolutely identical symptoms that you also had.
I did this pimax 8k, 5k Disconnect Cables 케이블 분리하기 - YouTube. As soon as I put the cable back in, the lights on the hmd started flashing Multi colors and then turned green. It then flashed firmware
Thank you! For whatever reason re-seating the cable actually worked. I got to the usual multi color flashing stage beforehand too, but the flashing never worked. After doing nothing but re-seating the cable I was able to flash the firmware with Sjefdeklerk’s tool easily.
So whoever is next here through googling the results, just try the cable re-seating. For whatever reason it totally works.
