Red, Green, Blue Sparkles Cable but also DP socket

I think I have the usual issue of the cable going bad as I am getting RGB Sparkles and it’s a nightmare to find a replacement but this isn’t what this post is about.

My GTX 1080Ti has 3 DP sockets on it. If I plug the 5K+ into two of them it works albeit with the sparkles. There is one of the ports where if I plug the headset into it does not connect at all.
Why should this be? I looked the card up and all sockets should be the exact same. Why does one not work with the headset (works with monitors) and the others do?

It also makes me think the sparkles and this might be related.

Also since installing the latest drivers the headset turns off randomly for 10 seconds or so and turns back on. Now I don’t know if that’s cable, driver or GPU DP problem now.

Anyone got any ideas?

I had similar issues with the Display Port. The 8kX like one where as the 5k+ seemed to like a different one.

There has to be a reason for this of course.

Indeed. Much like why is the usb port also very picky/finicky.

I wonder if it’s voltage related. I am sure all of the dp sockets worked before. So it’s combination of whatever causes that and the cable starting to fail. Or perhaps the cable is fine but it is the display ports.

Definitely need more info on how pimax software so to speak chooses a do & usb.
