I tried this in the 8KX. Even in potato FOV mode there are framedrops on Ultra settings and there’s lots of ghosting and janky texture aliasing. On Very High settings the framerate is smooth but it still doesn’t look great. I have a 3090.
I’m going to try it out with my Quest 2 via link but so far, I am not enjoying this mod.

Okay so I tried it on the Quest 2 and it looks much better. No aliasing or ghosting and performance decent. Using link cable and Ultra settings.
It’s blurry from a distance but it’s pretty cool. I’ll do a test on the G2 tomorrow.

I just tried it on the Quest 2 and Reverb G2. Both look really good at the ultra preset, but the framerate still isn’t great on either even with a 3090. Going to the very high preset, the framerate is pretty smooth, but the resolution looks like it goes from 4K down to 720P, it’s a huge visual quality drop off. If I can stomach the lower framerates throughout the game, I’m going to have to stick with ultra. Speaking of stomaching, I think I’m going to have to use the Quest 2 so I can avoid using smooth turning. I was getting pretty sick using the G2 and smooth turning during a fight.

Yeah I tried it on my 8KX with my 1080ti and saw the same texture issues. Turning on PP fixed the texture issues for the most part but it still doesn’t look as good as it does on the Quest 2 for me.
I obviously can’t play on Ultra with my system but playing on high is okay for me. Still get the expected slight stuttering when turning with the joystick but it is playable for me. I thankfully don’t have issues with VR sickness but I can imagine that those who do would not be able to tolerate playing this at all.
I will say that it really looks great on Ultra though and I would be thrilled with it if I could play at that setting. Anything less than ultra and there is a big drop in resolution. I love the game though and just being in the world even with the low resolution is still quite a treat for me.

I just found out you can manually adjust the resolution setting regardless of preset in the RDR2 graphical options. Ultra puts it to 2.5 res, while anything lower is 1.5 and below. So putting a lower preset to at least 2.0 really helps to bridge the gap

Yes, I tried Large, Small and Potato. It looks best in Potato but still way worse than Quest 2 if you’re not using Parallel Projection.

I’m a big fan of RDR2 so hopefully someone can come up with (as usually occurs) a set of settings and configs that produce great results on the 8KX.

I figured. No way everybody would be this impressed if it looked as you described. I had to be a Pimax problem.
GTAVR works well on small and normal on my 8kx . But its obvious he mods for oculus as his target

Any tip for this? I´m playing with quest 2 and it is amazing but I NEED the fov of my pimax 8k+
