I just received the email from Pimax which basically tells you to open a ticket to start the tax-refund process for your preorder. They also tell you in this email that Pimax won’t be responsible if the item is held back or further charged at customs if you requested the refund before.
Now I had a detailed look at my preorder and the total price I paid is the 8KX plus 60$ for shipping plus 208.81$ VAT (19% in Germany).
Now it seems I shouldn’t request the refund because I am pretty sure those 19% VAT will be charged anyway at customs. So it should be less hassle knowing that everything is already paid now and the 8KX is ready to arrive at my doorstep without further delays.
The only thing that confuses me here is the fact that I didn’t have to pay the VAT when I ordered my 5K Plus, 8K and 5K XR. For all those orders it was only the item plus 60$ for shipping!
So I would like to get a confirmation that they changed the shipping process and you now have to pay for VAT!
Its possible that its not directly related, but: previously they had a warehouse in britain and normally you would receive your headset from EU land. Now when BR is out of EU, they dont use it, therefore the package comes directly from Hongkong (i think) which means “zoll” will ask you kindly to pay taxes
I would claim the taxes back from Pimax and afterwards pay to customs if needed. Might happen that you would end up paying it twice or atleast provide the proof of payment to customs. Nasty paperwork.
They have mentioned in pidays that that the process is currently not the same.
The post you’ve provided says the package goes from china directly to germany.
This however is important:
Meaning the regional warehouse is not anymore in GB, but indeed - no tax for eu should be applied.
Keep in mind that the tax has been removed later on for DE and that pimax was aiming at a new warehouse in EU (Germany). So this would need clarification from the team I guess, the rest is lucky guessing.
I would also recommend to get your tax back and pay as needed directly at the customs. Martin stated today that a german warehouse location is currently in work. My stomach feeling tells me that my pre-ordered 8KX with premium audio MAS might arrive until later in spring next year so maybe we can get a direct EU delivery as a bonus.
What I didn’t understand is why I had to submit another ticket for them to add to the Pimax giant stack-o-tickets when all they had to do is look at the order date and pricing to determine if I’m elegible to the discount…
OK it’s been a week since Pimax sent that email to have backers open a new ticket for their tax, discount related refunds. Has anyone gotten a reply since then? Was it really wise to instruct backers to open MORE tickets when they are already clearly overwhelmed with tickets?
Yeah, I got a response last night because I didn’t do it correctly. I had responded like minutes after I first got it, so I would guess they are just starting to go through those tickets now.
As for if it’s wise to ask for more tickets when they are overwhelmed, that’s why they had people choose a specific ticket name, so they could easily search for that name to deal with this issue quickly.
