Question About Backer Warranty

Hello,

How do the backer warranties work? We have a 1 year warranty correct?

For example, I received my backer 5k+ in February. It cracked and I RMA’ed it and received a replacement in August.

Will my warranty expire in February a year after I received my first headset or will it expire in August a year after I received the replacement headset?

I’m wondering because my replacement headset is starting to form a crack now and I’m wondering if I need to RMA it to China before February or if I can wait until the latest iteration of 5k+ headsets are available to be shipped from the NA office and RMA it to the NA office.

@Matthew.Xu @PimaxUSA

Thanks.

If there is a problem with cracks again, please go to helpdesk to create a ticket.

We will follow the procedure to replace the new headset for you again.

With regard to the warranty period, it is calculated from the time you receive the headset.

Thank you very much.

@Matthew.Xu Thank you for your reply.

Which headset do you mean? Is the warrently calculated from the 1st headset recieved or from the most recent replacement headset?

I share this concern as well. Can you check with the team to see if 1 year warrenty begins once last backed item is shipped?

For example as I have no LHes I cannot test LH Function with headset. (Backed full package) So in theory those whom backed a full package should have the 1 year warrenty begin after controllers received.

@PimaxUSA @SweViver @Matthew.Xu

Still wondering if the 1 year warranty applies from the first headset received or 1 year from when the most recent replacement headset was received.

Heilosurge also has a question about the warranty for people waiting on headsets. (See above)

Thanks.

Could we have some clarity on if the warranty expires 1 year after 1st headset received or 1 year after last RMA headset received.

For example if I RMA my most recent cracked headset now and get a replacement that cracks in March can I RMA that headset or will it be out of warranty since I got my original headset last February?

Thanks.

@PimaxUSA @SweViver

Could we get some clarity here? Is there warranty 1 year from original headset received or most recent RMA received?

If it is one year after the original headset, my warranty expires soon and my replacement headset is cracked. If I get another replacement and it cracks within 2 months but my warranty is expired would Pimax still replace it or would I be out of luck?

Thanks.

Isn’t it always counted from the time you purchased (1st received)? I don’t know anyone who would reset warranty after (warranty covered) product repair/replace.

I have a same question. My 5k+ sits in the box since I received it last spring. I cannot use it as intended due to no controllers and LH received. I have backed full package and will not be upgrading or buying something else, will wait for LH and Swords.
I am already disappointed with the way it is all going with Pimax and I will be really P***** Off if my warranty expires before I get LH and Swords.
How I am suppose to test it? It is like a having a car without steering wheel, I can only start the engine to test it is running, but how about drive test? Steering, suspension, brakes, etc…?
Warranty should start only after we receive a full package!

Warranty is provided under contract of sale in legal terms. I am not entirely sure how this works with kickstarters but if it follows the e-commerce this starts upon receipt of goods. Your warranty is not extended by issue of replacement products!

We are still awaiting a clear answer. But agree warranty should start once full packaged received.

I have the same question.
Pimax5k+ is sitting in a box in my closet since March. Waiting for LH and controllers.
Cannot use it so I cannot know if it is defective.

Will warranty start when I get my HS and Controllers?

The headsets will crack sometimes even without use. You may want to check in the box and RMA it if it is cracked.

Also, the headset should have a gyroscope inside so it can be used in seated mode. You should be able to verify basic functionality without controllers or lighthouses. @VRnold as well

Yeah, I was hoping that it might work differently.

With most products I have had they either fail some time after the warranty or fail once and the replacement does not.

Both of the 5k+ have cracked within one month of receiving them. Others are still having this problem. So it is likely that I will exit my one year warranty with a cracked headset with at least one defect. This is despite requesting replacements.

If I RMA now they will either send me an older headset like one person on this forum that will likely crack within a few months and/or have black dots. Or send me one of the newer headsets which one person reported cracked for them.

It is unfortunate that it has taken them almost over a year to sort out the cracking. (Some people have received 5 cracked headsets) If the backer warranty ends in a year for their backers it looks like they will be given headset after headset that cracks after a couple months until eventually the year is up and Pimax says “sorry too late”.

This is one of the reasons that I can’t justify buying an 8kx or + for the backer discount price of $800 ish and really can’t recommend anyone to buy any of the headsets at full price. I have no idea of the headset will last for a full year. $600 or $1300 for a headset that has a high chance of not lasting a year is a bit much.

It should probably, but my overly cynical common sense says the warranty period starts when you receive the item, whether you use it or not.

Those are often negotiable though. Case by case etc.

Here it’s like:

Guarantees and returns – Denmark
Is the repaired/replaced product covered by a new guarantee?

Yes, a new 2-year guarantee is given if the product was replaced. If the product is repaired, the repair is covered by the normal statutory limitation period of 3 years.

I actually thought this was normal in the EU.
