Yes, in principle, I do not mind the built-in batteries, only their capacity is low for everyone, and then not replaced even …
If there will be 2000 mAh battery at least stand - then this will be a good option
But are there any suitable built-in tanks? I’m here easier to insert a rechargeable battery … In the oculus-touch it was even convenient and nice, the magnetic latch itself stuck back, in and there is not a single gap.
I can however give examples of people having AAA batteries run out at events and having to scramble because they can’t get new ones.
Also just because it’s li-ion doesn’t mean it has to be built in, that’s something Apple invented, all li-ion phones used to have readily replaceable batteries before that.
I agree as controllers would need 2 batteries in AA or AAA to meet voltage requirements like all current tv remotes & battery operated game controllers.
Battery banks are cheap if one wants to extend playtime & with an arm band convenient.
I hope that whatever nuclear battery is placed inside the controller, but it will keep the charge for at least a few days, but not hours. This is my main Wishlist. Well, not at the expense of ergonomics, of course. Do not make batteries for VIVE, this is the most important thing. And in the rest, I think, many will agree to accept, if will keep a long days of charge, and it does not matter what it will be.
Even if the gasoline generator will stand in place of the battery, but the main thing is to have worked many days without having to arrive at the gas station
Hi Heliosurge you know I usually agree with you on almost every issue and really appreciate your help and suggestions, but if the AA rechargeable batteries fit inside the handle part like in the touch it might work. I don’t know the size difference on the ones you are talking about. The add-on I don’t think personal extension battery seems like the best choice especially swinging the controllers around like we do. It seems like I never hardly change out my touch batteries for weeks but the vive wands I ofter have to charge before and after. I’m sure pimax is restricted to their design choice what works best. Someone said the touch hardly use any energy, so that may be the deciding factor why pimax may have to use the others what is the drain or stress on the batteries for a given style controller? It would be neat to see a quantification on that. Oh yeah I forgot to add the vive wands you cannot easily replace the batteries if they do go bad, dang near impossible from what I here even for a tech.
Touch only has to light up ir leds. Valve/vive use laser pickups.
When i have the opportunity will supply pic of a usb backup battery.
As for swinging the controllers around as long as you don’t release the controller into flight. There would be no concern. Usb cord to controller from an arm band would cause no real discomfort. Folks already use arm bands on their cell phone with wired ear phones…
There maybe space in handle for AAA but your still going to need 2 & AAA bats have not seen rechargeables bigger than 1000mah
Don’t know if AntVR are wireless but they have option to plug controllers into headset.
thanks for your reply Heliosurge how do you maintain your energy levels, I read through one thread and I’m exhausted and need to replace or recharge my batteries.
Lol i hear you. What the idea here would do is supplement the controller internal battery. Here is a iphone arm band for reference the battery i am refering 2 though is much smaller. Then the arm band.
Theres more or less the battery you can get for about $4 canadian at Dollarama. Save Dollarama one is 1800mah. Strap that to an arm band or lower arm band with 3ft cable done.
I am all for swappable batteries but in a controller like knuckles style with grip buttons/touch caps. Not alot of space. And if you do have removable it would have to be AAA which would give you 1000mah max from my search.
Okay thats amazing you can get that much power out of such a compact device I wonder if the U.S dollar general has the same deal pretty affordable little power supply. Just a side note I keep saying one of these days I’m going to drive my motorhome up to canada for some nature exploring it won’t be this time of year thats for sure.
On an iphone 4 it gives up to 10hrs of use. My lg g4 the 1800mah will recharge it to arpund 60%. Fellow posted Vive’s battery is 960mah which his post seemed reasonable for use(not sure hrs he posted). Strap this guy to them & now you should almost have 3x the usage.
The one pictured above is 2200mah @ 14.99ca. Dollarama one was $4 ca.
Now we do have an American chain up here called Dollar Tree that might have something like this as well.
I know they work well with rechargeable game controllers like playstation.
