Portal update - July 13

Here’s us with another update on the Pimax Portal, ahead of the official AMA session held on Friday 14th of July, on our Discord channel.

Let’s go over the progress we made, and what better way to do it than with patch notes? The patch notes here are listed from old (top) to latest (bottom). Our software has now also gone out of beta and is in a stable release.

As you can see with the dates, the software is being updated regularly and we’re making more & more progress in creating the ultimate Android handheld that does emulation, cloud gaming, Android gaming, and soon: VR.


Beta v1.0.7_f0302 (2nd of March)

  • Add exFAT support for micro-SD cards.

  • Fixed the message “Phone is starting” showing on repeat when entering VR mode

  • Optimized the initial brightness and maximum brightness when powering on.

  • Resolved the problem of the screen not lighting up and the handheld device still producing sound when quickly unlocking the screen after it’s locked.

  • Enhanced system stability and fixed some software bugs.


Beta v1.0.9_f0325 (25th of March)

  • Optimized the controller vibration logic and button functionality.

  • Fixed the issue with using the menu key for unlocking.

  • Improved the TP (touch panel) responsiveness and sensitivity.

  • Optimized the brightness curve issue.

  • Enhanced system stability and addressed some software bugs.


Beta v1.0.10_fd0406 (6th of April)

  • Added the ability to adjust volume and take screenshots using combination key presses on the controller.

  • Emulator kernel no longer appears on the desktop.

  • Enhanced system stability and fixed some software bugs.


Beta v1.0.10_fd0413 (13th of April)

  • Added the ability to adjust volume and take screenshots using combination key presses on the controller.

  • Fixed the issue where built-in applications of the AiWu emulator wouldn’t appear on the desktop.

  • Enhanced system stability and addressed some software bugs.


1.0.12_fd0502 (2nd of May)

  • Added controller calibration function.

  • Optimized fan logic.

  • Changed the default input method to Gboard.

  • Improved the logic for magnetic controller charging.

  • Enhanced system stability and fixed some software bugs.


1.1.0_fd0520 (20th of May)

  • Compatibility issues with 1TB and 512GB SD cards have been resolved.

  • The logic issue with controller connections has been optimized.

  • The problem of not being able to increase the volume of headphones has been fixed.

  • Improved display of desktop and store background images, as well as some text.

  • Optimized the process of entering and exiting VR.

  • Improved system stability and fixed some software bugs.

  • Compatibility issues with 1TB and 512GB SD cards have been resolved.

  • The logic issue with controller connections has been optimized.

  • The problem of not being able to increase the volume of headphones has been fixed.

  • Improved display of desktop and store background images, as well as some text.

  • Optimized the process of entering and exiting VR.

  • Improved system stability and fixed some software bugs.

  • Optimized the new user guide and touchscreen interaction logic.

  • Added button guide.

  • Improved performance mode.

  • Added automatic pairing when the controller is magnetically attached and automatic charging when the controller battery is low.

  • Enhanced system stability and fixed some software bugs.

Note: The magnetic controller charging and pairing feature requires upgrading the controller firmware to the latest controller version.

  • Added screenshot function to the Toolbox.

  • Made some UI adjustments to the Toolbox.

  • Optimized the local dimming algorithm and added an option to manually set the local dimming level.

  • Increased the fan startup threshold.

  • Added external dead zone settings for the joystick.

  • Optimized audio algorithm.

  • Improved the interaction logic of controller control in the settings.

  • Enhanced system stability and fixed some software bugs.
