POLL: Will you buy 8Kx without wireless/7 meters confirmation?

For me it is all. I can’t use my 5K+ with 5 meters in my living room, and I use it with 8 meters (3 meters extension). But now that I have Quest… I want wireless very hard.

Why they will test wireless or extension cable for 8Kx if customers buy it regardless and they don’t mind it to take the decision?

I can’t blame Pimax if they stop investigating the wireless for 8Kx or the extension cable, if they think it’s irrelevant to the SALE of their headset.

I can’t buy 8Kx without a strong confirmation of wireless and extension cable. Because… my experience is that “future tests” are always a “no” or “future different version 8Kx+ or 8Kx new version corrected”.

What do you think? We need a strong confirmation ASAP? We need more time to decide but we don’t want to lose our backers offer?

  • I won’t buy it because I want wireless/+7 meters cable confirmation and I’m forced to choose 8K+ that has it
  • I will buy it because I don’t need wireless or more meters cable

If the 8KX can’t be extended I’ll probably just skip this iteration of headsets.

I don’t wanna buy the “lesser” version.

I am sure that if I had wireless confirmation with upscale mode and native 7 meters … I bought it now.

How do vr movies look in this ; is it major like wow improvement ? I am very tempted to get the 8K X but need new video card and i have other priorities right now .

It would be a relevant survey if you had an option for ‘I am going to buy as I would still like it without wire extension or wireless but would really like/hope those options become available in the future’.

As the survey stands at the moment there is no option for me to vote on so as someone who has already ordered it I don’t think your survey will not be representative.

This poll is for show that there are people over 10% that doesn’t buy it because they need an announcement or statement about it. 10% is a lot of market. And actually it’s more, almost 15%. These amount of people are waiting. Simply waiting. But they want to buy NOW.

Why they will test wireless or extension cable for 8Kx if customers buy it regardless and they don’t mind it to take the decision?

A lot depends on your source video but with the X for the first time I can see details like wrinkles in peoples faces and eye detail etc. Simple things like seeing the time on a clock in the background are visible and the contrast of the new panels also makes a big difference.

I remember when I received my Oculus DK2 and later the CV1 and both were so poor for movies due to high SDE and low resolution it was extremely inferior to just watching on TV. The X however is the first headset I would actually sit through an entire movie.

You can’t see SDE on it at all and the resolution is high enough that finally it’s something that delivers a theater like experience.

Too bad we can’t yet just pop on a pair of sunglasses or contact lenses to achieve this sort of thing.

Definitely it’s the best headset for sim racing and movies.

If we have wireless or extension cable, it will be the high end and perfect headset for everybody. We need lighthouse 2.0 room scale or Quest freedom. And perfect.

As far as I understood the chipset in the 8k X can technically support DSC. So wireless might technically be in the cards. not only for scaler mode but also in a native-DSC mode. Would certainly buy this when priced in the range of currently existing wireless solutions for other headsets.

But we don’t have confirmation. On the contrary, appears that it doesn’t work well and can’t work with wireless or extension cables.

OK thanks for the reply . I would buy it right now but my funds are a bit tied up . Maybe in a couple of months or maybe I will give in sooner , I will see .

I don’t need either wireless or an extension, so it won’t affect my plans to buy it at all. Especially since most everything else the headset offers isn’t even close to being matched by competitors. Would they be nice to have? Sure. But not a deal breaker for me.

I think that cockpit games are the ones which need the higher res the most, to see dashboard instruments, small text, and distant objects. You certainly don’t need a longer cable or wireless for those types of games.

I think if cable length or wireless are important to you, the 8K+ makes more sense, at least for now.

8kx simply doesnt have the hardware to run longer cables neither do current gpus. until the new generation come out with the new transmission standards its simply not possible. (we are at the limit for current standards, aka no headroom for extensions)
im generaly not a fan of playing over WLAN, i imagine its even worse for VR with the spotty nature of wireless transmissions.

i personaly only have a 2x3 meter playarea, so 5m cable is plenty.

Yes… I suppose that:

8Kx:
For movies and Sim Racing.

8K+:
For room scale games and future wireless and fast movements

Poll suggests more then one thinks behind each option - that is at least for me misleading.
I bought the 8kX even with possibly less cable or no wireless option then I wish for, but none the less would love to have more cable length and wireless.

So you can’t be sure what your result tells You people buy the 8kx because they want the device ?or because they never wanted more cable or wireless in the first place? Or actually both?
Statistically bad.

The poll is to only knows who people “can’t” buy 8Kx but want to, and are forced to buy 8K+ because has a REAL necessity for wireless/extension cable.
