I would indeed set it up per application:

Racing Sim / Flight Sim: petrol, smoke/burn

RPG: Soil, Woods, Damp (dungeon smell), Zombie, Pleasant (like bread, to make you feel welcome, e.g. in a friendly town)

All others - make it a system where everybody can exchange each smell module as they please, so that one can set up an individual system choosing from all available scent modules.

The issue will of course be the implementation with the games, because the game needs to trigger the scent release somehow.

I’m a bit scare of an actual smell unit. Mostly because i don’t want any strong or overpowering smell. But i would enjoy light smell that are more general in skyrim like Artic forest, wood house smell in the small village, a clear dry wind smell for high montain. Things like that.

Yep. Translation is aweful, but understandable:

The first symbol also means: female, woman, girl, daughter, frail.
It is considered a noun, but it looks like they used it as an adjective.

‘Smell’ is really a ‘Scent’ or ’ fragrance’ of course.

A scent of a woman:
Better translation IMO would be: A women’s fragrance.

I do not see coffee smell

Half world take a cup of coffee several times in a day at home, at office and the smell is in the room.

Another one is missing is cigarette (smoke) smell

But at the end if the game is vr kanojo the smell of girls can’t miss :slight_smile:

More than anything, I want to make sure the smells don’t linger. Everytime this has been tried in the past there were issues with smell retention and you end up smelling various bunt/rotten garbage. A vent fan is a must. But then we’ll need to deal with scents (usually a distilled essential oil IIRC) building up on the inside surfaces of the HMD (how will this not coat the lenses? Or the inevitable lingering scents from 5, 10, 20 minutes ago)… I’m generally optimistic about what Pimax is working on, but not VR scent.

Imagine having a co-op with a friend, where you both ‘chose your smell’ upon starting. Then you need to sniff that smell all the time when u get close to eachother. It would most likely escalate to an 1-on-1 deathmatch…

Btw I wonder what genre is suitable for that ‘smells of girl’… hmmm :wink:

You do bring up an interesting concept though. Blindfolded VR :stuck_out_tongue: Rely on smell (and touch, with gloves / suit) to do stuff…
Gone are the rendering issues, edge distortion, etc…!
