Hi ! I am wondering if I would like to sell my 5k+ to buy the 8KX later… What do you guys think about it ?

I plan on exchanging it through Pimax with a addition sum for the 8K-X. Hopefully a trade up program will be offered, additionally mine was to be RMA’d but it is functional and I have held off until I knew what was happening with the 8K-X.

If the information about new 8KX is true (better distortion correction, full 4K RGB panels, same or less GPU load), I don’t see why anybody want to keep their 5K+/8K…

I hope the 8k x will be as good as we are all hoping for. The specs sound very impressive. I am personally very excited to hear more information as soon as possible. :exploding_head:

At this point, if the index full kit comes to Canada before my full kit arrives for the 5K+ then I’m likely to sell the 5K+ for it, and then unlikely to consider the 8K-X.

If there is a good offer on the upgrade to 8kx, I would very much like to exchange it fo my 5k+, which has all the features: black dots, dead pixels and cracking housing :smile:, since with an IPD of 72mm I am out of any other VR headset released recently.

Yeah if theres going to be an upgrade program I migh consider trading in my 5k+ and use the shop coupons.

I would like a trade-up offer from my 5K+ as well. I would take it for sure.

I plan to buy an 8KX, but chose “no” because I’ll probably keep my 8K as a backup.

Actually, I’d probably sell it cheap to a friend (or just give it away).

Maybe keep the 5K+ as a backup is a nice idea.

I don’t believe in a trade-in program, what company in their right mind would do that? Trade in the CLA 117 for a 118? :flushed:

I also want to buy the 8KX. I have high hopes for its built quality, and wish best of luck to Pimax. We need this high-tech competition to drive the VR market into new technologies - Oculus went towards saturation and cost leadership, and is out of that race.

Well Jo - in a case like mine where build quality of the 8K has led to housing crack issues but not loss of functionality - I would hope for the option to trade up with a RMA of my cracked 8K headset.

Not that I am saying I would not pay a difference between the headsets - more than gladly pay extra for the difference in purchase price between the 2 as I know the 8K-X will be a more expensive item. I would how ever - like the opportunity to do an exchange / trade up if at all possible.

Have you ever been to a car seller? Of course you can trade in your old car for a new… Especially if its from the same brand

Maybe it was a bad example, but then again, how much do you expect for a 1 year old used 5K+ ? Considering the lifetime of a VR HMD is probably around 2 years tops (I have upgraded every 12 months) with a certain amount of redundancy kicking in with this type of hardware - That’s like going to the dealer with that 117 at 120k km and then still expecting a good deal. Sure it goes 240k km, with enough care, but what do you expect to get?
