Pleased to say I just managed to fix most of my 8KX lens issue by swapping CK gasket with 5k+ one

This is exactly what I have been advising last week and some, maybe there is large portion of Caucasians like us who have deeper set eyes compared to typical Asian and so it’s harder to get our eyes close enough to the lens.

I’m Asian but hey there’s all sorts of faces out there!

Seems there’s an element of lottery to it with face shapes and 8KX Pimax compatibility. Some can resolve with much tweaking. Some maybe not. Hopefully for the next gen they definitely focus on fully replacing the lenses and organising some kind of eye relief. It’s such a shame that some continue to struggle, as once it’s working it’s mind blowing.

This is why I want to try the thin foam option we were supposed to receive.

Which one do you have ? I have the Thin one… that’s not thin enough for me.

Thin one on the Left, Thick one on the Right

I have two comfort kits (one came with the 8KX and another I ordered ages ago). Both unfortunately are the thick size foam.

Time for a shave… of the Comfort Kit foam

Just place a ticket, they should post it for you.

Perhaps while waiting for Pimax, thin and thick foam owners can arrange a swap shop :joy:

I mean, I have a thin foam that I knew within a minute of testing that I will never put back on my X again. It’s just going to gather dust now. And most likely, the CK gasket will do the same.

Just filed a ticket. Should hopefully have it in 2021. :smirk:

i have exeact the same problem,i need to be closer to the lenses… i tested it without the facemask… Damm that is a big difference for me…Better sweetspot etc…

i already made a topic about this, but pimax seem to ignore this problem, this way you get more bad reviews. If they fix this it would help a alot off people.

Gives us a option to a even lower height comfort face mask!

@PimaxQuorra why are there no responses from the pimax team?

Just whip up a nicely thick shaving lather, and use it as foam pad. :9

For that extra tight fit :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You might be on to something though… custom made facepad, shaped from a plaster/gibson form.

hmmmm… ohhhh damn… have to try that, haven’t made an inverted “print” of my face since I was a kid

Applies permanently to your face using our patented dermal fitonator tool.

I did the same and had the same experience. 0mm facefoam, or 1mm of some sort of stuff, would actually make the lenses useful.

I am wondering if the distance between forehead and eyes is very different for Asians vs westeners?
It would explain a lot.

If you are already building without mechanical adjustment from lens to eye, the comfort kit should be kept as small as possible. the distance can then be determined using upholstery. not all have such beautiful eyeseyes-illustration

The gasket should come in a smaller size, should not be too expensive to make I reckon.

Maybe even 3D printable as long as nothing breaks when inserting or taking out.
