any idea when we are getting the survey?
It was mentioned sometime ago that the 8k can be upgraded to 8k x functionality through the use of an addon purchased seperately at a later date. I was gutted I missed out on the x version but at least I know im future proofed now 
Any further information on the 2.5m stretch goal? I havent a clue what software they are referring to or if we get a choice?
I messaged pimax and their reply was that all 5 fingers will be tracked!

The 8k upgrade to 8kx probably won’t be available til the X is ready for consumer release & currently is projected as needing tge 8k headset sent in to be upgraded.
At present its too early to tell on how tge upgrade would be performed.
As for the survey a user posted usually a week to 2 weeks to allow backers time to get their pledges sorted out.
@bacon can you clarify if the above is accurate & correct where needed.
I think that a running eye tracker makes the 8k x useless, if we have the focus on the focus of our eyes the existing resolution should be more than enough if the driver can handle it optimized… not sure how the hardware is designed, but what do you think guys…?
With eye tracking used for Foveate rendering would reduce gpu load considerably in a 4k native per eye in something like the 8k-X. With current gpus available would be a definite asset in making rendering an asset, reducing bandwidth needed for more stable higher refresh.
Of course programs need more native support of this concept; however a kind of basic support might be able to be done on the vr headset side in the driver.

I’m a backer of the 8KX limited edition. I’m assuming that I will need the Vive base stations and controllers as they aren’t included in this package. Correct?
I was actually wondering if they meant that FOV number was total, per eye, diag, horiz, or vertical. It just says 120.
Yes if you didn’t get the full package you would need your existing Vive base stations.
yep. fove does it driver side, so it is possible. would be the dream if they did it driver side, but given they are outsourcing (probably to a glass), i think it will be up to devs. or some code genius in the community haha. anything is possible given a bunch of coders basically reworked the tpcast to add mic audio
