Despite the lens module, please leave as much space as possible for the glasses.
I already know that we have a module for prescription lenses; but, aside from the fact that there are some really expensive crystals, and not everyone can use contact lenses, what will happen when we want to show the virtual world to family and friends?
Besides, how are you going to show the product at fairs and events to people who can barely see without glasses?
It would be very good a design that allowed to move away the screens and leave space, although then some FOV was lost.
I agree, having a room for glasses can still be useful in some cases. While my PSVR has plenty of space for glasses thanks to forward movement feature, Oculus Rift is example of bad design in this area.
Pimax will give us frames wiithout lens. I didnt even know any place where do custom lens. I think only frames its pointless for us glass users. i hope that pimax have room for glasses, they said that will be possible.
I really hope we can use more space than with the v3 model; the person we sent to test that prototype told us that there was not enough space, since their lashes brushed with the lenses.
More space in the Pimax would be mostly welcome, even if we get the frame for prescription glasses.
It is a problem that I know from using the Rift. I use it with the lenses from VRLensLab. But with those glasses in use my eyelashes always touch the lenses because the additional lenses reduce the space between the eyes and the HMD lenses, because of their thickness. Same surely applies for the Pimax, you insert the prescription lenses and your eyes will be too close to them. Some testers already reported that the space in the Pimax even without the additional frame is very limited.
I hope Heliosurge is right and we will get a thicker face foam to solve that problem.
Seems to me that movement of headset forward/back is better way to solve it than different foams. It is possible to set up with high precision the needed place that way and there is no need of foams switching.
It is a really cool system, I used it with cardboard times, but the problem I see with that kind of mechanism is the posibility of opens for dust particles.
Ideally, you could set distance of lens from the screen independently for each lens, that way most people wouldn’t even need their glasses because this would change the focus.
But his is hard to do and probably the huge Pimax lenses make it even harder.
They are providing you with a custom lens frame for this exact reason… for FOV to be best you want your eyes as close to the lenses as possible. It’s kind of ridiculous how you guys are expecting this headset to be personally tailored for you.
The thicker face cushion is what ruined the VIVE for me until I bought a thinner one… it’s a terrible idea. If they offer to provide it to only people who have glasses, fine, but it makes the headset uncomfortable for people who don’t have glasses.
From what they said they are considering i think to have 2 thicknesses in kit. Again considering. May have better design come release. Just need to wait n see.
