@deletedpimaxrep1, pimax, will you be replacing the 8k diamond pixel screen for a square pixel one like the 5k to fix the display problems?
Willing and able to change it by myself
Actually if we could have the option to upgrade once received I would get it right away
There is no diamond pixel screen. The thread you might got this info from is wrong.
The digonal pixel arrangement is what i am refering to
If they are not diamonds, its even worse.
Because rectangles oriented differently of their orientation leaves a gap, diamonds are more adapted to this pattern.
Actually lets just say pattern then.
will you be paying the difference in cost for the panels, and convince everyone else to do the same, because the panels are functioning to spec. They are not defective.
I swear to god pimax have been nothing but punished for the kindness of upgrading the 5k. They should have left it as it was and sold the 5k+ through the website in 6 months .
You are right, but early backers had to make choice withā¦partial informations
Which is my case and with Pimax customer service probably overflowed by mails, thats not easy to communicate.
The 5K+ is the headset the 5K backers backed for. 2*QHD panels with 3 subpixels per pixel. It is not a āfree upgradeā. Instead the 8K and 8K X got a āfree downgradeā to a new special worse-than-pentile 1.5 subpixel per pixel panel.
If it was an optional extra at extra cost i would definately pay it, even if i wait longer.
I realise not everyone may want a better display or wait longer
the panel was changed to a smaller , japanese panel that was more expensive, resulting in a higher ppd, and a higher retail price on the 5k plus than 5k.
How is that not a free upgrade.
because it has more SDE and less contrast than the 8K, it is therefore a downgrade
Upgrading the 5k, to the 5k+ was not an upgrade, because it has more sde and less contrast than the 8k.
I want you to really think about what you just typed. Iām guessing you completely misunderstood the reply chain you were commenting on.
itās an upgrade for the 5k backers and a downgrade to the 8k backers, itās not too difficult to comprehend, is it ?
So I certainly hope that Pimax will upgrade the 8k screen
Pimax 5k upgrades aside, it does seem to display the input pixels better than the 8k, from the close up photos and the diagrams people have drawn to explain it here⦠As in the input pixel is not in the same place a pixel is on the panel, meaning said input pxel is shared across 2 or more on the panel. Making it look blurred
Because the panel of the 5K non-plus only has 1.5 subpixel per pixel instead of 3, which is what the backers expected. If the 5K backers would not receive an upgrade to the 5K+, they would have gotten screwed over exactly like the 8K and 8K X backers are screwed over now.
With the āfree upgradeā Pimax has basically corrected their mistake of false advertising regarding the 5K. However the 8K and the 8K X were also falsly advertised.
Apparently it is FOR YOU, because you countered my post about the 5k to 5k+ being an upgrade, and asking āhow is that not an upgradeā, with saying it was a downgrade by comparing the 5k to 8k .
How do you not understand that your reply is literally unconnected to the question. seriously.
the 8k underperforming compared to the 5k, not giving the performances expected from a 8k
therefore the 8k is a downgrade compared to the 5k
and so we want a better screen for the 8k
thatās it really
Oh i didnāt realise you had access to the pixel arrangement for the original panel on the 5k. Not that that changes the facts of the matter.
Its very simple.
The 5k was going to be produced.
They changed the panel to make it better.
This changing to make something better is called an upgrade.
The panel cost more money.
The cost of the better panel is not being passed along to backers, but will be passed onto other buyers.
This makes the upgrade free.
You are an ingrate.
we would gladly pay for better panels, weāve been saying that, no one here wants Pimax being at loss
I assume that the 5K panels are the same as the 8K panels just with a lower resolution.
If the original 5K panels indeed had three subpixel, than yes the 5K+ is a small free upgrade. In that case the 5K backers should be grateful for that.
If the original 5K panels had 1.5 subpixel on average, than it was not a free upgrade, but the correction of a mistake. They got what the expected and did not got screwed over.
The backers already paid for the upgrade, when they backed, which does not make it free.
If you buy a 4K TV and the seller is about to hand you a 1080p TV, but changes his mind and hands you a 4K TV, is this a āfree upgradeā or did he provide you with what you paid for?
However as an 8K or 8K-X backer you definitely got screwed over because half of the damn pixels are missing from the panel.
