Pimax VR Experience Public Beta download

Hey everyone!

Here comes a new Pimax VR Experience Public Beta version v0.80.0.0.

@arminelec and I can’t wait to see some cool screenshots of you working in VR, watching movies or playing desktop-games using this new Virtual Desktop environment!

Setup Instructions:

  1. Download and install PiToolSetup_1.0.2.087_V2.0
    - Note: PiTool V. works with this version of PE as well, but to get Backlight brightness sliders working, you need to use PiTool

  2. Download and run Pimax VR Experience Beta Installer

  3. After installation, when PiTool is running, make sure to tick the checkbox “Start Pimax VR Home” (located in PiTool, Settings > General). This will automatically launch the Pimax VR Experience.

Note: Pimax VR Experience comes with its own installer, but it requires you to have PiTool version installed beforehand, to work properly.

Update History Beta

What’s new:

  • New: Virtual Desktop features added to official Beta release, now updated and improved:

    • Multi-monitor support up to 3 monitors
    • Desktop Mouse Pointer position/click/multi-click/drag working and synced with VR controllers (right-click still work in progress)
    • Switch to “Mouse Mode” to disable VR mouse and instantly use Desktop mouse
    • Switch between all monitors in Single monitor view and multi-monitor view.
    • Automatic order of multi-screen setups (manual sorting will be added)
    • UI mode: Virtual Desktop is built-in to the UI with fixed size to UI scale, including multi-monitor view switch
    • Fullscreen mode: Virtual Desktop separated from UI. Allows for empty environment around monitor view, optimal for movie watching, gaming, etc.
    • Change the Monitor scale/size and distance from HMD with sliders (Full-screen mode only)
  • New: Calibration page: Virtual Desktop (main monitor view) added to calibration to enable viewing of images/videos on desktop while calibrating/testing image settings in profiles.

  • New: Log Export button added to Customize menu. Automatically exports 2 logs (with date+timestamp) to user’s Desktop.

  • Update: Improved dampening to mouse single/double/tripple clicks and drags for easier use with VR Controller with Virtual Desktop

  • Fix: Critical bug fixed that caused games (SteamVR, Oculus and others) not to launch in VR mode (or not launch at all) from PE.

  • Fix: Fixed Virtual Desktop mouse double-click issue when using VR controllers sometimes not double-clicking.

  • Fix: In Game Management menu, the list of games/apps did not refresh when “Sort By” Previous/Next buttons were clicked

  • Fix: When VR controllers are used, Virtual Desktop automatically enables Desktop Mouse mode (and minimizes PE window, if window/fullscreen mode is active)

  • Fix: Incorrect distance of VR controller-pointer laser when pointing over Virtual Desktop monitors

  • Fix: When PiTool accidentally erases the game thumbnail file content and keeps them locked (or at zero bytes), we log this issue in the log files and carry on. User can restart PiTool to fix the issue and all thumbmails will be corrected.

  • Fix: Issue where Steam VR games could not be imported due to one or more incorrect/missing value(s) in the manifest.

@SweViver you are just awesome fast in releasing new versions. do not have time to test all features since you release a new one. awesome job! very cool!

So far no problems with SteamVR launching and the Virtual Desktop works great. Fantastic work!

Other than the monitor order bit, this is working great for me so far!
Feature request would be to increase the available size by 1/4 to 1/3. Distance is scale is great!

This is great. I wish the G2 users out there in the world could see that you have now officially put Pimax ahead of WMR in terms of default 3D UI environment, of functionality.

Cliff house is dead.

Restarting the PiTool doesn’t bring back the icons of the Games for me.

Are the icons/thumbnails plain white? This is a serious PiTool bug we have seen the past weeks. It turns all game icons into 0kb files when Pitool randomly crashes and locks access to these files. The only solution is to quit PiTool (terminate process) and start PiTool again and all icons are re-generated.

We will implement a simple manual re-order feature of monitors asap

I only see 2 thumbnails of round about 15 games. The rest is white. To quit PiTool and restart does not get back more thumbnails.

P.S. i reinstalled PiToolSetup_1.0.2.087_v2 and now the Pimax VR Experience is on Ver. but the thumnails are still white. Installed PE but still only white thumbnails.

Oh and connecting to a Lighthouse 1.0 only works, if both controllers (Valve Index) are on. And the tracking is really choppy.

This doesn’t sound normal. In the PVRHome folder, please run the uninstaller and install PE 0.80 again. Your thumbnails must have got corrupted by a PiTool crash or something.

I uninstalled PiHome and Pitool and reinstalled them again. The Thumbnails are still white until 2 Games.
But tracking works now with 2 Lighthouse 1.0 and no contollers. 1 Lighthouse 1.0 in modus A doesn’t work.

Could you please (in PE) go to the Customize menu, in the bottom there is a Export Logs button. It will create 2 log files on your desktop. Click it and send me the 2 log files (using pastebin.com for example). Thanks

Please test today’s Experimental build (fixes custom monitor ordering and more…) and let us know how it works for your multi-monitor setup.

Now it starts steam vr but it still dont have the right profil selected when you save, if you go in do some changes on a game then press save it cant becase no profil is selected.

Hi SweViver. I got a Player_2020-12-10__17_38.log and a Player_prev_2020-12-10__17_38.log.
I never used pastebin before. Is it OK if i post the content of the logs here or is it or do they contain delicate private informations?
Or will Beta fix it?
