Pimax Sept 16 News Update Speculation

I’d like an oled full rgb 8k with new lenses, it will happen down the road if we give pimax another chance.

I just want to see a release date for the accessories given, which should be what we get with the announcement as well as an 8kx release date. I’m not really looking forward to the 8kx because of the 75hz, unless it has better lenses.

They need a hero product, one they can really get behind and that can be universally liked. I’m sure that most backers just want their controllers and Basestations by now, surely that’s top priority and what they’d hoped to hear news about today, there’s too many headsets and not enough accessories.

Pimax should know how to select and concentrate. It hasn’t been a year since Pimax persuaded backers to get 5K+ instead of 8K, and 8K is still out of supply. Then now what? 5K XR, 5K+ RE, 8K RE, 8K+ RE, 8K Vision, and 8KX?
I have no idea what they are doing.

I think the 8k+ might be that product if it rivals the 8k x’s picture quality and it can run at 90hz or above. But considering the 8K was only 80hz i think its unlikely.

They need a hero product but they keep adding new headsets to the market so no one has a clue which one that is. Stick with one. Why confuse your buyers with a new headset always on the horizon, makes people not want to buy your current generation.

I agree accessories need to be their top, and in all honesty, their ONLY priority right now.

Their was absolutely no reason to pivot to a new headset at this point in time. Especially when we knew there was already an updated headset on the horizon, why muddy that release with a surprise launch?

edit: Unless the 8k Vision IS the 8kX just rebranded, maybe there isnt a new headset at all lol. Really every thing right now is all rumors.

to be fair the market is evolving and the competing companies are now making decently priced offerings with competitive specs. Every offering still has some compromises though, if pimax wants to stand out they need a headset that trumps everything else on offer.

New lenses are a big deal, software stability and product quality, headset resolution and colour/black quality is a big deal.

I wouldnt even care if Pimax never released accessories but made a perfect headset similar to StarVR which has no compromises and good quality, custom full rgb oled, minimal to no wide fov distortion with special lenses.

Pimax was never aiming for decently priced. Its high FOV was always its selling point, that’s what differentiates it. My point about muddying the brand is still relevant. Pimax is not taken seriously in the VR world. Announcing a shiny new headset doesn’t change that. Having 10+ separate headsets is ridiculous and will turn people away.

Edit: As to your edit, Software stability and product quality are still something Pimax cant seem to get right so I have my doubts this new one will either.

I don’t think that matters if they give the headset which stands out a name which doesnt abide by the current naming convention. Hero is a good name, or Legend

Edit: Pitool is much more stable than it used to be, and now it is much more plug and play considering you can save settings for each game with the profile.

When Pimax gets added to steam (which will probably happen when 8k x releases and the accessory bundle), Pimax will get a lot more customers and recognition from steam

It just comes across as they don’t think they’ve made their best headset yet, so they keep on trying with new models, how’s that supposed to make backers feel?

Take it from a backer, pretty sh**ty. After 2 years of delays and no accessories or stretch goals on the original kickstarter, and hearing of all of these new iterations of headsets…it’s a joke really.

I’m a backer and I’m not really upset about improving things. I mean we still would not have our headsets if they waited this long. It would be cool if they would give backers a good discount on the new ones.
What I am REALLY PISSED about is backer rewards and accessories not being shipped.

I mean thats literally the problem, they seem to be focused more on chasing the next big tech then actually finishing the kickstarter that they started.

Maybe the new little known model is some kind of wireless apparatus. Seems to be the trend.

Discounting the price for backers would be a good idea or a trade in deal. Here’s hoping for good news from the update on the ??th

Meh Ive had my headset for less then 6 months, I’m really not in a rush to jump in on their next debacle.

That’s understandable.
