Pimax Portal Disscusion

Almost like they are investing in a platform they expect to last longer than the 2 months the kickstarter runs for.

I think writing the whole forum off as toxic is a bit unfair. There are maybe a handful of people who have gone on and on and wont drop it but for the most part there have been alot of really balanced and thoughtful takes on the whole situation. Yes, alot of people are worried about this new product. People talking about it does not make this forum toxic. I wont let a couple of jokers who take things too far write off the entire forum for everyone else. Pimax barely ever comes to here anymore anyway, instead posting more on Discord. I would hate for them to leave entirely because of a perceived negative bias. Even if there were a negative bias here, talking to us is how that can be changed. As a direct example, Keven recently just posted a nice write up about Pimax’s parallel business structure and why the flagship products aren’t being put on the backburner. This has never been talked about here before and it did alot to curb my anxiety about the future of this company.

We need more stuff like that. More behind the scenes glimpses. It was nice to hear a more detailed explanation of why exactly the 12k is delayed instead of just a generic 70% number.

Pimax members are always around. The compartmentalize business structure has been mentioned before. Though not sure how many would understand how it works if one has minimal xp with it.

I do agree a discussion both good and bad dors not equal Toxic. It makes for a bslanced discussion if ppl keep it civil. No jumping to toxic comments simply because view points fo not match one’s own preference.

I am still on the bandwagon of “Maybe wait the literal few days for third party road show impressions before seriously judging either way”.

Hehe I read more wishful thinking and dreaming than any sense of reality. I think that’s what makes the different types of persons here on this forum anyway, the realists vs the dreamers. For now the realists have been right all along and the dreamers have been wrong all the time. Unfortunately for Pimax I expect this pattern to continue for a while.

Day two on the kickstarter ends with about 340 sales. Yesterday it seemed they were on track towards 4000 sales. Now it indeed looks more like 2000. For which they have given away 1000 free dev kits. Yeah sure, all this makes a lot of sense …

Like clockwork, Atmos even liked your comment within 10 mins! Go team real!! (I’m just making a dumb joke bte, not actually trying to talk bad lol)

Well said Heliosurge. I try to keep it civil and 99% of my comments are directed at Pimax.

If I’m not wrong Pimax controls Discord and can delete and ban people at will? Which might explain why Pimax critics aren’t seen there as much.

I doubt Apple will care about Pimax when they release their headset next year. Or Valve or HTC. Business is ruthless.

If Pimax want yes men they already have them in Kevin and Swiviver. They get paid to say yes.

If Pimax want to ignore the critics then good luck with Road to VR and UploadVR. No one gets a free ride and eventually the investments dry up and projects like the Sword controllers fail, the 12k doesn’t get released on time and the real competition starts to bite.

But Pimax knows best I guess.

This is definitely not the case and there’s been some extreme criticism there and directly toward some of the reps that’ve appeared at time.

Yeah I don’t think they’ll ban you there. Nor will they ban you here as long as you keep it civil. Which btw is one thing I actually do like about Pimax. I know company forums where they hit you with the ban hammer if you say only 1 bad thing about their products. Needless to say I’m not buying any of those products ever again. While I’m still interested in the 12K, although at this point I really don’t know anymore when that will be released … But if Pimax releases a new interesting high end product I’ll most likely buy it. I’ve bought 4 of their headsets already and will buy more, if they seem to be any good

And I saw your buddy Sargon already typing, let’s see what the ‘dream team’ will come up with now

And now alltogether:

“You may say I’m a dreamer,

but I’m not the only one.

I hope someday you’ll join us.

And the world will live as one.”

or

"I have a dream…

… that one day …

Pimax will release

the 12K"

Although I grew up myself with this one, the better stuff: 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor - Dreams Will Come Alive - YouTube

These guys provide good and well reasoned criticism of Pimax.

That’s rather different than just trolling on Pimax.

Curiously, I have posted some rather harsh criticism of Pimax myself, including on this thread, but that seems to be ignored whenever someone wants to paint me as a Pimax yes man.

Can you give some examples of forum posts that you think is ‘trolling on Pimax’? Just curious. While I don’t always agree with @Atmos I agree to a lot of what he says. And even though he puts it a bit harsh sometimes, the truth sometimes also is. I don’t believe anyone here is ‘trolling on pimax’, I think most of the skeptics here have bought more pimax hardware than you have. We’re here because we’re interested in Pimax. And we’re sad because they keep on making dumb decisions that will lead to failure for themselves, which is bad for us all. That’s pretty much it.

But yeah it’s interesting. We’re all here for the same reason. We want Pimax to release the 12K and we want it to be better than anything that’s out there. But it seems you guys just feel that you need to ‘defend pimax’ in order for that to happen. That their success will somehow depend on you guys trying to convince people that wrong is right. While we think it’s better to call them out on stupid decisions. Because if they wouldn’t make those bad decisions in the first place you wouldn’t even need to defend anyone

The irony is of course that all we say here doesn’t even matter, it’s going to make 0 difference in the end anyway haha. But you gotta do something while you’re waiting

Not true. The Discord is community ran by @XabbuSwe and his fellow admins. Pimax did decide to make that discord offiicial.

And no pimax doesn’t look for yes ppl.

Yes @XabbuSwe sold his soul for some free pimax t-shirts which seemed kind of cheap to me but we all have our price so I won’t judge. Haha jk xabbu knows I love him.

This demonstrates that you don’t actually read my posts. You’ve already said as much explicitly a few times now. Please stop pretending you know what my position even is when you can’t be bothered to read it.

Guys,

I think it’s time to calm down. Okay?
Let’s get a drink and chill.

We are not arguing about YES MAN or NO MAN for Pimax, or being a fanboy that defend to Pimax.

We can always have some nice, gentle discussion on here. I’d love to see you guys exchange the suggestions or comments on the hardware, software or others.

Please be positive and have a good one :heart_hands:

Okay?

I just noticed that the screen on the Portal is only 5.5"? This thing is really small, like as small as my phone. Makes me less concerned about the offset analog sticks with something that small I don’t think it will be an issue.
