PIMAX M0 VR Glasses Virtual Reality Headset Review (short)

My fellow VR enthusiasts,

Here’s my short review of the Pimax M0 glasses.

Bought @ GearBest: https://www.gearbest.com/vr-headset/pp_655926.html

Pictures of unboxing and the headset:

A comparison shot between the box of the 4K and the M0. For a fairly cheap smartphone headset the box is excellent, and much nicer than the box of the 4K although it’s not nearly in the same price range. Pretty strange :P. I might just use that box if I need to transport my 4K…

You can clearly see that the model is about the same as the Pimax 4K/BE. Except offcourse this model has no screen, since you have to put in your own smartphone.

It looks to me that the clip mechanism is not without risk of scratching your phone, but it is a pretty fast and convenient way to get your phone in and out the headset. It also keeps your camera free for apps with AR etc. My phone did not budge a lot when in use.

The cover foam of the M0 looks to be a bit thicker than the one of the 4K, but since I already washed my original 4K cover, that might have an influence. The headset sat just about as comfortable as the 4K, with a bit less pressure on the nose.

The lenses look about the same as the 4K, and while using the headset I didn’t notice too much blur in the picture. FOV is the same as the 4K but no black vertical borders if you press the headset close to your face (may be phone dependent I guess, I used a Moto G4).

Picture Quality is about what you can expect with a smartphone headset, mostly dependent of the used phone (mine has a 1080p screen). Did not notice much difference when I used my FireFly headset. I did not notice any (automatic) IPD changes, but as stated above, had no blur of any significance.

The M0 uses 1 of the available buttons of the model for resetting orientation and/or pausing. Pretty handy.

The headphones are the same quality as the 4K (I presume), so pretty nice and very comfortable on your ears with good lows and decent mid and high tones.

I think overall the price, which is on the higher side for smartphone headsets, is about right comparing to it’s worth.

+:

  • Good quality headphones
  • Easy to use clip system which keeps camera unobstructed
  • Fairly comfortable to wear and use
  • Decent lenses
  • Very nice box

-:

  • No hardware IPD
  • No bundled controller
  • Clip might scratch phone
  • Somewhat higher price range than most phone headsets

Disclaimer: I bought (sadly not sponsored :stuck_out_tongue: ) this headset purely for the headphones, since I bought a Pimax 4K without those. I wanted to eliminate one extra cable, and make the 4K more practical to use.

Hi can you also show the headset out of the box please?

You can look at the pictures on the Gearbest site, but it looks pretty much the same as the 4K/BE model:
