Pimax issues with vive trackers

I had the 3 trackers working fine until 1 got unpaired. Now I am having the most annoying problem where I use pitool to connect the trackers but it will only connect 2 of them at a time, It will not connect a third regardless of resetting or restarting uninstalling it wont let me pair a 3rd tracker. This is the most god damn annoying thing ever does anyone know a solution?

not sure you can use more than 2 trackers. the pimax has 2 bluetooth receivers integrated (same on the vives) and all extra trackers must be connected to their respective usb dongle.
I think the pitool manage only the helemetm not third party devices.
you should check in the steamVR app, if all trackers are there.

My issue is I can’t pair on steam because I get "looking for vr hardware make sure your headsetups connected and wireless adapters are plugged in and turned on/

Looks like the Valve broke support for them- https://community.openmr.ai/t/trackers-not-working-with-pimax-after-new-steamvr-update/19946/37

Cant say I’m too happy right now, not only are my trackers completely broken, but the valve index controllers are too. All in all that’s $600 worth of Steam VR peripherals that have been rendered completely useless for me even though they should work out of the box. This is advertised as a Steam VR headset and we shouldn’t be left out in the cold like this for weeks, I don’t even think Pimax has ever even commented on the issue.

can we just revert updates?

There working on it. Have you tried turning LH tracking off in pitool & set trackers & controllers to headsetless?

You’d need to revert Steamvr updates & should be possible. As some did it before.

How do I set tracks and controllers to headsetless

Here is one topic that may work. On one idea use a usb-c to regular 2 usb ports for wired

https://amp-reddit-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/amp.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/5m8a9t/is_it_possible_to_track_controllers_without/?amp_js_v=a2&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQA#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.reddit.com%2Fr%2FVive%2Fcomments%2F5m8a9t%2Fis_it_possible_to_track_controllers_without%2F

And

And

Otherwise @SweViver @mixedrealityTV @VoodooDE might have other tips & trixks. Wired to headset usb sounds like easiest route.

All that seems rather convoluted and time consuming? Let alone I don’t think you can install older steamvr drivers as it will try to auto update someone was talking about how you got to fight it routinely or play in offline mode.

I am really hoping pimax gets ahead of this issue its literally a “steamvr headset” if it can’t even be that why buy it over an index?

Simply put Valve needs to stop breaking things.

  • Hotas broken at one time because Valve decided to change how inputs were handled. Other special controllers may have been affected.
  • Openvr Input emulator Valve broke soon after it’s release.

Pimax had support implemented for these things as reported on several media outlets praised. & now Valve has broken things again. I am sure the next Pitool will likely have this fixed up again.

What we need is OpenXR fully in place to stop this kind of non sense.
