Pimax,is there a way you could reduce the mura on the pimax 8kx?Also a black vertical line in the middle

Hello there, there is sometimes a alot off mura with bright scenes.
Is there a way you could reduce that with a update?

Its a pitty because the rest looks absolutly great.

Also last night when i played lone echo(wich looked great, exept for the mura) i saw a black vertical black line exactly in the middel off the screen.

I will check tonight if other games have this too.I saw a post here on the forum that somebody else got this too on but then on his 8kplus.

I can see a kind of mura in bright areas sometimes but it doesn’t bother me. I wonder if some 8kx headsets have more than others.

Boy, John, you sure have issues with every single headset and graphics card you’ve tried lol. I don’t see any mura at all on my 8KX, just some minor SDE on white or very bright colors. StarVR was way worse in this regard.

Yea i know… the mura is very visible. I hope the Black vertical line is only with that oculus game.i check tonight further

I dont see any mura either and no black line.

Yeah unfortunately some have terrible luck in quality lottery. A few members have had 5 headsets replacements and each have had a quality issue. Likely why in part pimax is prepared for ā€œrapid rmaā€ as posted.

I tested now again and I can see just a tiny edge of mura but i have to focus more to see it than to see the SDE and I do have sharp eyes. while playing u wouldnt even notice that.

i tested some more but it seems that the black vertical line is only with the oculus game lone echo…But other oculus games dont work on the 8kx with the latest pitool and firmware…like phantom ops and asgard wrath

The mura is still a thing thoo

The Eyetracking module causes an intrusive black vertical line for me…

I guess as it’s physically protruding from the original flush Pimax lens and has a ā€˜gap’ between the two black plastic Eyetracking modules?

I’ve only ever gotten a black horizontal line trying to play games that weren’t supposedly compatible with the headset(Obduction with current patch for example)

Can I RMA before my headset arrives? lol

Hey, did you post on the Steam site a meesage about Wizards Dark Times and getting it to work on your Pimax?

I’d have to check Obduction but last time I ran it it worked fine. Mine was obtained through Gog but is launching in steamvr mode.

1.6.5 works fine but anything beyond that seems to cause a total blackout in the HMD (while still being rendered fine on the monitor)

inedeed, normal steam vr games dont have that problem

I’ve had the same issue with later versions and eventually gave up after their support (Cyan) basically said they didn’t support the Pimax headsets. I offered them to help debug it but they didn’t want to look into it.

It’s in this thread: https://community.openmr.ai/t/obduction-1-8-0-promising-update-pp-no-longer-needed/21418/123

How do I rapid rma? I have a light leak, and my game has lots of god rays which I think you mean by mura?

I also see Mura on my 8KX. It is subtle enough, so not a huge deal for me, but it definitely can be seen if I put my attention to it.

The black line issue is not something I noticed though.
