To be launched in May 2025!!!

I know Iā€™m the most skeptical of Pimax critics but this is not going to launch in May 2025. lol

That could actually be amazing if it runs on AndroidXR but there is a plethora of these HMDs rolling in.

If this is with full fat DP support then itā€™s a great concept and I might be interested.

Edit: ok with the full table now up, no. Not interested. Do 12K, DP2.1

Its just Pimaxes reaction to Megane X Super Light.

Both are around 100FOV so already a write off for me I might as well keep my Pico 4.

Self adjusting strap? Just why? Whats wrong with manual adjustment? Itā€™s going to be another point of failure.

If i had the two in my hand i would pick Megane X Super Light because of the strap and flip up ability and in Ā£500 cheaper because the MXSL is Ā£1600 including taxes and shipping.

To be launched in May 25 they will have to have working pre production models at CES 25 or its going to be another unicorn like the mythological12K.

On the positive side I think it looks fantastic. At least the renders do not the one in her hand.

Pimax Dream Air 020

Didnā€™t they say that they only want to start preorders for headsets weeks before they can be delivered? Now we are at 6 months again - in a very optimistic scenario, considering the renderings and 3d printed dummy.
Sounds all promising! But I want to see it running first.
And please just write the full price of headsets on the web page. Yes, people can do the math - but it shouldnā€™t be needed.
Also, people still need a very capable and thus expensive PC to use this that costs at least as much as the headset - potentially two times more. Not sure how many people who can only afford the headset in installments would actually prioritize this over potentially more relevant things, this imho doesnā€™t make sense for this product type.

I think this is actually the right way to move (small form factor, high clarity, pancake). But coming late to that party, I would have expected a bit more blazing gun power, canā€™t say Iā€™m particularly impressed by what they offer compared to the competition.

Ive update the Pimax Matrix with correct headers and even added Pimaxed Dream headset.

Heck Iā€™ll add the cost of each HMD.

2025 will be interesting indeed when it comes to VR headsets!
The ones listed above, potentially Valve Deckard and the Samsung/Google headset. And realistically one would have to add the Quest 3 to the list - still the offering to beat for most people.

That said, it is good that Pimax works on a new headset that fits in this lineup! (Crystal having great optics but being very specialized regarding the form factor). Because, Meta and Google headsets might be cheap, but the source of income that Meta&Google are looking for is less money from headsets but money from data from i.a. headsetsā€¦

It sure sounds nice - but not great. The good thing is that they are abandoning the reckless restriction to basics approach of the Beyond and have included inside-out tracking, eye-tracking & hand-tracking.
The bad is that they did not manage to squeeze out more FoV. I guess if it were easy they would have, but it surely isnā€˜t.

So if it came in at the same expected quality as the others (save for AVP), it would be my pick. But Pimax being Pimax, and Pimax Prime still being out there, it is not as easy.

But then again, it actually is pretty easy: just wait and see. Nobody in their sane mind will pre-order it, b/c Pimax are notorious for blowing their ETA up to the Duke Nuken 3D level with the 12K, so why let them take you hostage for a headset which may arrive too late when competition surpassed it by the time of delivery, or in bad shape - or neverā€¦

So I will keep an eye on it, see what the first owners have to report, and them might try to get my hands on it for a try out at Sebā€˜s place or elsewhere.

And if I then take a decision, at least it is more reasonable than just relying on marketing information. Countless Kickstarter projects should have taught me somethingā€¦

Looks a bit like the Arpara crossed with Apple Vision Pro.

Not gonna lie Iā€™m interested in this. This is how they should have revealed their uOLED plans to begin with. IMO announcing it as part of the SUPER got a less than stellar reaction.

The MeganeX definitely prompted this pivot.

Pimax , stands for ā€œPivot to the MAXā€

Iā€™m just happy the announced this BEFORE I preordered the Super uOLED. I would have been kind of angry if this was announced afterwards,

Uh, Artur Sychov from Somnium is pretty pā€˜d off:

I get it, Pimax just making random announcements of ā€žproductsā€œ when-ever a new product is released which makes them wet their pants must be pretty annoying to competing companies. It simply distracts the customer base, and in the long run with Pimax not delivering on half of their announcements or only substantially later, it creates a risk of undermining the consumer trust in the industry at large.

@PimaxOfficial And yes, the idea to present your wet dream as a product for pre-order is really quite a money grab

But seriously, what are you guys thinking? If you are serious about the Super just a little bit, and really believe to release it (now apparently moved to April), donā€˜t you understand that the users who still take Pimax seriously and would potentially buy a Super, will now consider waiting for the Dream Air instead? Which we all know will not arrive in May b/c itā€˜s just a concept and you cannot even show off a freaking prototype yet but claim you will deliver them in 5 months from now??
You did they same with the Crystal Light - just when it hit the shelves, you announced the Super and I, for one, instantly brushed away the thought of getting me a Crystal Light b/c the Super would be so much better. Now you are doing the same to your Super.

Unless this is a sophisticated money laundering scheme I really donā€˜t get it.

And before you think you can lure users away from a Panasonic subsidiaryā€˜s product you need to get your act together on quality control. And that will not improve one bit if you dilute your focus over several different headsets instead of getting the job done properly on 1-2.

I think CES 2025 is going to be another of those Pimax reality checkers. The very minimum we expect is a fully working prototype with final optics. Sounds like Shiftall have nailed the glare in the Superlight so the Dream Air can be nothing less as itā€™s much cheaper.

Have Pimax leant anything about launching new products before theyā€™re ready? Miracles do happen.

Iā€™m Sure Art could release a pre vis of the 180FoV Hypervision HMD weā€™re all waiting for and say it will be ready by the end of 2025 and look hereā€™s the 3D print to show its real. Haha

I think that he should be more pissed off about the Sommiun getā€™ll on sale very late and not care about other companies announcements

About the Dream Air, after saw the presentation, I think itā€™s only a dream (only renders and a 3D printed model, seriously?!). And opening the preorders with thatā€¦ itā€™s a high gamble and will affect the company credibility and ethic (for better or wrost).

Yeah it must be frustrating for competitors who have real products out there to see people get wild about a Pimax announcement when all they have is a frikking 3d printed model, big LOL. But the Somnium VR1 was also announced WAY WAY too early, so not sure if Artur has any right to speak.

Once again Pimax forgot why people want to buy their product: wide FOV high resolution headsets.

If they want to get in the market of mobile movie watching, too bad they are too late, and a tethered headset is never a solution.

Right now I am using Quest 3 to do exactly that, at only $500, and the experience is great. I brought my headset in my backpack and I could watch movies anywhere I want. The resolution is good enough. The picture quality is great. The FOV is big enough. What more do I want for movie watching?

Of course from time to time I wish I can watch 8k videos with a tether headset at 50ppd with wide FOV. Crystal Super with wide lens already fit into that bill. The price is steep but still acceptable today.

But what does this ā€œdreamā€ headset offer beyond Crystal Super? Mobile? Nope. Quest 3 eats it like lunch. Comfort? You cannot beat MeganeX or Vision Pro with this kind of design. Picture quality? Wait, isnā€™t that what Crystal Super was supposed to reign ?

Last time Pimax announced many devices in a short period, it didnā€™t work well for them. I thought they should at least have learned the lesson and not making it again.

Please Pimax be focus on Super, like Apple was focus on Vision Pro. Super is the one chance thatā€™s like iMac to Steve Jobs. Do the Super properly, you will thrive like Apple once did. Spend all your time and money on this and that, in the end you will only have regrets. Portal already proved that.

Indeed the Sommiun was first announced before the Pimax KS headsets were released. The specs kept changing and only recently have they released.

I get pimax announcements are often very premature with new products on the way and often present features that may not fully materialized or not at all.

As a ceo that cares he should be cleaning up his own yard first. The megaganeX has been hyped and changed a few times. Consumers in general need to step back and not jump on early hype wagons and simply wait til a product materializes.

We have even observed LG hype a SteamVR headset that never released after specs and pictures of the product.
