Today I recieved my Pimax. I followed all Installation instructions carefully and after 4 hours trying I cant get it to work at all. When I turn on Pi Play the computer goes crazy. USB notification pops up “device connected” then “disconnected” continously. I cant stop the notifications from poping up and have to disconnect everything. The software for this thing is absolutly terrible. I have never experienced anything like it. The english translations in the error messages are pathetic and I dont believe the amateur software developers working for this startup company will have any chance to fix these problems. I AM PREPARING THE UNIT FOR RMA BACK TO GEAR BEST. What a waste of money

Have you tried to reboot the PC with the Pimax connected to it? Because the first time I connected the Pimax to the PC it didin’t get detected, so I used the OC Tool to change it to Pimax Mode, reboot (without disconnect the Pimax), and then all worked fine 
I found that if I connect the Pimax after enter windows, I got the same problem as you, but if I start the PC with the Pimax connected it works fine, so I’m sure it is a bug, but the solution is very simple 
At one point it tried to update the firmware on the headset and thats when it went crazy connecting and disconnecting. Do you know if its possible to manually reset the firmware on the headset?

Finnaly back on 1.0.0.180:

put HMD in dfu mode:
- disconnect
- press all 3 btn (up vol/down vol/pwr)
- plug usb → white led
- release pwr btn
- release down vol btn
- release up vol btn
When in DFU mode:
C:\Windows\piserver\pimax\piDfu>DfuSeCommand.exe 0 international_1.0.0.180.dfu

I’ve got the same problem, it works for a few seconds or minutes then disconnects… once it disconnects and reconnects the HMD is frozen or needs a reboot as well as restart whatever game/app you are playing.
This is completely unacceptable , there must be a fix for this and we are not the only ones with the problem. There are users on youtube with the same disconnecting problem.
The only fix is getting a refund. Chinese made junk designed by Chinese

Normal device for this price level. With Oculus DK2 i had trouble not less. I’m pretty confident that your problems because of the connection to the ports usb based not on Intel chipsets. Oculus have the same problems, connection-disconnection on other vendors chipsets. Support works, quality value is good for this money. Defects can be available to all vendors.
The claim to a pair of non-translated words from the Chinese language, generally ridiculous. What there may be is not clear? NEXT button? I am a Russian (and do not know the Chinese language), but no problems with the installation are not experienced.
P.S. My device has a physical defect, but claims to electrical or software i do not have. Again, with Oculus problems no less, if not more.
What phisical defect? And with oculus dk2 and his clone deepoon e2 now no any problem with runtime 1.x. Just plug and play.
Dirt or a scratch on the lens, or on the screen inside the glasses. Oculus DK2 i use since its release. Problems from the incompatibility with the video card drivers, incompatible with operating systems, not compatible with different chipsets… Also, different runtime version does not work with different applications, needs use another manufacturer’s program to switch between the different versions of the runtime. Remove mouse support in the latest version of the interface, it also does not add to the convenience.
No, with runtime 1.8 all ok, now its just as oculus cv0 (pre cv1) and with libobrwrapper 1.2 run ALL games for runtime 0.7 to 1.8 with asynchronous timewarp.

Yes, i was able to adjust 4K. My method - flash the latest firmware(in my case 194), then it does not have any error from steamvr or Oculus driver. Piplay really becomes optional. Piplay and Oculus server cannot operate in one time together.
