Yes, if you don’t transmit the full bandwidth, but only the necessary bandwidth, basically the full fov at low resolution and a reduced fov at high resolution. The final device has to be able to recombine the received information, but that may be a job within the Snapdragon’s capability
I think this 60gig wireless module is a waste of time.
Where is the inbuilt Wifi6e functionality? Have Pimax forgotten about it? Or is it broke forever? Instead Pimax are trying to promote another device that’s going to cost 2-300 quid and do the same job as my Pico4 or Quest3 for free.
Who wants a wireless Crystal anyway? With only 12 games in the store who’s going to pay 2-300 quid when you can buy a whole Pico4 for that price?
Pimax are massed with Sim gear which looks great. Hats of for getting all that gear there. I think this is where Pimax and Crystal shine. But no simmer wants to go wireless. They just want more bandwidth.
Overall Pimaxes message at CES is mixed. The 60gig module is DOA like the sword controllers.
And where is Portal? After last years big CES push it’s no where to be seen.
And where is the 12k? The one and only Pimax product I’m interested in, is it hiding in the secret booth locked away from the public? This is the 3rd CES no show.
The 12k should be centre stage this year. What’s so bad about the 12k they can’t even show a prototype to the public? They can show a 60gig prototype in a tent but not their flagship model.
I’m still waiting for that rabbit from the hat moment. B so far CES 2024 looks no different to CES 2023 minus Portal.
Maybe I’m just being too negative?
Pimax are smart enough to not come to the CES this time around with a poor Steamdeck rip off or whatever it is supposed to be. Forget about the Oculus Go VR mode.
And about the 12K? Well, obviously it is not good enough to demo. So better not to show it, right?
I think Pimax is wise to stick to what is actually presentable (it seems to be a functioning tethered PC VR headset at this point - forget about it’s further specs on Wifi6e, Standalone, MR, etc. as they may or may not ever become practically valuable). Will they have incredible success or grab greater attention? No, but grabbing attention for over-promising didn’t work out that well either, did it.
So no complaints from my side if they learned some lessons at last.
I just finished watching Swevivers live stream and it looks like the 12k IS there but as feared it’s behind closed doors and only on show to those who signed up.
I think Pimax are shocking. They pay all that money for a CES booth and then keep the one thing we want to see out of the public eye.
Instead Kevin and Josh are promoting a new business ‘Ingenius’. A company based in the US for Pimax support, returns, advice. Joshua is not even at CES this year.
I’m really not sure what’s going on at Pimax they seem as directionless as ever.
Joshua looks like he just rolled out of bed. He’s gone full Big Lebowski.
Haha I thought you were being a little dramatic, until I watched that ‘live’ stream. WTF, promoting a B2B company ‘ingenious’ where those 3 are now working at… Just seems like a random new direction they’re taking indeed… Are they ‘jumping ship’? It sure starts to feel like that. And then Joshua at home in his pyama who just got out of bed, haha, it’s hard to take this seriously
Personally I think Kevin wanted Joshua out of the way so he could get the limelight back. Lol
Haha who knows. Honestly in my opinion Pimax is better off without those 3, so this might actually be good news. But Pimax China also needs new people, they need someone in charge with a strong vision and understanding of business strategy, now more than ever, as competition is surely heating up a lot now.
Haha looks like Kevin has had too much time on his hands. He set up a VR consulting Business in 2018 while getting paid by Pimax. Talk about moonlighting. No wonder he called the business Ingenius.
Whats strange is, two months ago Joshua posted this video. Its of a new start up in San Jose dealing with customer service etc. He seemed very much part of Pimax still talking about Pimax products.
Very strange setup.
This Video suggests (if I’m not mistaken) Pimax have put 6k panels into a Crystal. He says the res is higher than a Crystal. So could Pimax release a 12k Crystal later this year. That would make sense if they already have the panels ready for the 12k. Or is it just click bait?
Interesting! Not sure what to think about this video though. And who is ‘tally mouse’ anyway, he seems to be creating Pimax promoting video’s only? Anyway hopefully this means the 12K is not dead yet.
