oops sorry wrong one but its the same for Z270, limited to 7700K

yes i saw that,so there isnt a cpu that dont bottleneck my rtx2080ti for my motherboard?

I dont wanne change all again
Or is the botlleneck overrated?

I think there isn’t.
Just upgraded this weekend because of 30% bottleneck on my 1080ti.
Don’t expect an huge improvement, but it’s decent for me. I can use higher settings with higher refreshrate. And my cpu is cool and stable now

wich cpu switch did you make?

I went from i5 6600K to Ryzen 7 2600x. It is comparable with 7700K so you will need something stronger.
This summer the 3000 serie 7nm is coming out, maybe worth the wait.

i did just see in the bottleneck calculator that the 2600x will work fine with the 2080TI also.
There is another thread were you can discuss it further if you like

Is Brainwarp active while Smart Smoothing is off? I am asking, because I run with Smart Smoothing off due to excess artifacts (compared to ASW). However, I find VR experience still enjoyable even with low framerates. I wonder if there’s anything else at play that makes low framerate experience more tolerable?

There is currently no brainwarp available! Just smart smoothing. Yea it has some artifacts but it really helps with fps.

These are cpu suggestions ftom the calculator

Yeah but doesn’t both the cpus you listed require a 300 series mobo?

Smart smoothing is part of BW v1.0. The BW 2.0 will have the frame doubling.

I suspect Smart Smoothing works better or worse depending on game. I am playing game that requires parallel reprojection workaround checked. In that game, Smart Smoothing produces really blurry/doubled objects. I wonder if Smart Smoothing does not work well unless game supports HMD with panels not in one plane.

Thank you, that is very helpful to know. Is there any more detailed info on what exactly Smart Smoothing does, and what will Frame Doubling do?

Smart smoothing is essentially a version.of Steam’s Smart Smoothing & Oculus ASW(?)

There is something else going on with pimax. I can be running at 70fps and have 0 sickness and pretty much no shuttering.
This is with smart smoothing off. If I put smart smoothing on I get some artifacts, with it off I get 0 artifacts (so I know it’s off). Since this is the case I have been playing fallout the last few days with smart smoothing off and have no issues except for an occasional stutter. This is different than with the rift or vive which you can really tell when you are are under 90 fps (and not using their smoothing fixes)

I can second that, my observation is similar.

This is something I wondered in the past with the pimax 4k being only 60hz.

The one thing thst might be a factor is higher res helps vs hz… Gen1 needed higher hz to accomodate low res. In vergence-accomodation conflict. In that higher res helps create more realistic depth.

Far away objects have more detail instead if being blurry globs due to low res.

Much like a 4k TV feels like it has a 3d depth quality compared to a 1080p tv of similar size.
