Hi there
My Artisan doesn’t start. PiTool says DP and USB (2.0) is not connected, but it is. All three cables are plugged in.
What can I do? The headset is complete NEW, ordered and shipped from thze Pimax store. Di I have a guarantee?
I have a GTX 1050Ti. There are three Ports: DVI, HDMI and DP.
On DVI is my Display and I want to connect the Artisan on the DP. Is this a bad idea?
On my new Mainboard I have a DP 2.0 connector and a HDMI port too. How can I use this ports (for gaming)?
I looked it up the 1050ti does support DP1.4, I wasn’t sure it did. You must use the ports on your graphics card for the headset to function.
Since pitool doesn’t see USB or DP that leads me to believe the issue is more operating system level. Windows 10 I assume? Update all your drivers starting with Nvidia and then your mobo drivers.
If the issue is sufficient to prevent driver updates then you will know it’s time for an OS overhaul or a clean Windows install.
You can also create a ticket and our team can assist as well.
But I’m afraid that even if it works at some point, you won’t have much fun with the 1050ti. Try to get at least one used 1070 or better. Otherwise it is only sufficient for the simplest applications. / or small resolution
Pimax shows only a red LED on the top and a green stripe on the front.
I don’t have base stations or controllers, only the Artisan (and NOLO, but not connected).
I can’t buy an other graphics card, because they are too expensive and are used for bitcoin mining.
The GTX 1050Ti has only one DP, one HDMI and one DVI port. There is nothing to swap.
Now I have unpluged the HMD complete, but PiTool says, that it is plugged in (USB 3).
Why can’t PiTool show me the right connections in real time?
Hopefully it isn’t an issue of a weak DP signal than.
Power headset off via button and try other usb ports.
If you only have 1 usb cable with a power adapter connected to wall. Makes it easier
If you have the revised model that uses dual usb. Connect the thinner cable maybe in a powered hub or a cell charger wall socket. The thicker cable handles Data. Still use the power off via button while trying other ports powering up the headset via power button.
I would also suggest filing a support ticket as they can setup a time to try a remote support session.
If you have a friend with a computer it could be a good test as well.

I have tried different USB 2.0 ports for power connection. Off course a wall connector too.
Rebooting the HMD via the PiTool button has no function. Restarting the service button in PiTool reboots the HMD with the following error messages:
10536 status LED off → white → red
10636
10936
Sometimes the Artisan will be shown in PiTool, but the status LED stays red.
The email support sends me different firmware versions to try, but every time the same errors without any function.
Now I have bought a replacement cable from Amazon. It will come at saturday.
Hopefully this eliminate my problem. If not, the cable goes back, but I hope it will.
With the new cable the Artisan runs well!
There is no blue status LED, only purple. And the green stripe in the front has a rythmic flashing. Is this correct?
But the headset isn’t very old, only seven or eight month. Do I have warranty on articles bought in china?
Purple led with Chevron flashing should mean compatible with Parallel Projection setting is on.
With it appearing to be cable related and you said you just bought from Pimax? Then you should have a 1 year warranty. File a support ticket and they will likely send you a cable
