Hi guys,
Is it possible to mod an 8KX replacement cable (with the 2 USB ports) for the 8KPlus / 5KPlus by cutting off the one USB port that only carries power and soldering a 12V power supply socket there?
The 8KX cables are relatively cheap - in case the “snow” problem arises.
Speaking of pixel flickering… does the fiber optic cable actually help permanently?
If you have the older 8k+ that used the 12v cable; you can likely order it easier as the pimax Crystal light seems to be using the old 12v cable. @PimaxQuorra
With the Crystal light using the older cable it is possible that maybe at some point pimax might have a fiber op cable made for the 12v platform
Hopefully if there is differences; it is only things like improved quality overall. As this would make it easier to keep a compatible cable for older models. Rather than pimax needing to maintain an inventory for the older models.
This is why proprietary cables are not a great idea to make & use.
A Display port mini and usb-c or 2 in the hmd side connections would be much better vs these custom connectors. In the case of the 12v connector a standard barrel connector could work.
The core benefit one cable could be used for each new generation until a new standard display and usb connector is created.
Awesome thank you. Should the new 12v cable be compatible with the older headsets. If the team makes a fiber Op 12v cable it will also give those with the older models a.Fiber Op cable as many wanted this back when the 8kX released & were very disappointed when it was said they were not making one.
