Hi!
My name is Jorge López and my dream is to live off graphic designing. I mostly make projects about eSports and gaming because it’s what I like most.

For the last week, I’ve been working on a rebrand for the newest VR technology of Pimax. This is what I’ve done so far. Please let me know what you think and respond with any kind of feedback.

Pimax 8K Header (Promotional Design)

It’s not that I do not see it aesthetic, but I see two problems:
It is not clear that it is an eight. It looks more like a fish.
I think using the term 8K as part of the name is a mistake to correct.

I agree 8k is maybe okay for prototyping. But a name change is in order. In truth 8k TV would also be a “misnomer”.

TV/Monitor mfgrs rounded 3840 to 4k at a loss of 160 dots/lines.

Doubling what is called & been accepted as 4k gives us 7680 so like qhd being legitimately called 2.5k (2560). This would be more like 7.5k or accurately 7.6k as we loose a considerable amount of dots lines 320.

After all double so called 8k to 16k we now have actually 15.2k with almost a full k in lossed resolution.

Now if we followed your lead we could rename & add correct info.

PiMax Horizon
2160p UltraWide 32:9 (7680*2160) 16MP!

I somewhat agree with Cdaked, I initially though it said EK ( it even looks a little like the EK logo https://www.ekwb.com/ )
I also agree that moving away from the 8k name would not be a bad idea. I would focus more on “200” in reference to the FOV personally.

I like the grey template. Has the lenses, the wide aspect, the angle design but I also agree with others. Calling it 8K is controversial and ends up as a debate in every new article that pops up. Good effort anyway.

Now don’t let your efforts on creating Graphic designs unofficial or not dissuade your efforts as its more we need to move towards a better naming scheme. :beers::sunglasses::+1::sparkles:

Totally agree, Pimax should focus on another name for the commercial version, if they want to add 200 to indicate the FOV They can put it behind the name

Pimax Horizon 200

Hi Jorge

Welcome to the forum. Nice design!

For a long time now I’ve been suggesting forum users come up with some new graphic ideas for marketing! Thanks for your input

@Heliosurge I think a name chage would time best with release of the consumer version. Horizion is a good one! If the headset performs like it should they wont need to use 8k. It will sell itself

Hi, I just write this: It’s time to correct the Pimax “8K” name issue:

Just keep in mind Horizon is @Cdaked contribution. :beers::wink::+1::sparkles:

But without any specification number!

What about a beautiful Chinese landscape name, instead?

No. 8K? What happened if they move to 16k, you’re going to change the brand logo again? lol

I’m working on a new logo. Stay tunned!

This is the concept I came up with. I’m also planning on giving the logo a warm color palette. Let me know what you think!

Maybe too Bold? Perhaps with thinner letters and occupying more horizontal space.
You can play with the 2 “O” letters too.

Are you thinking on turning them 90° to resemble eyes? :beers::wink::+1::sparkles:

GENIUS.

I changed completely my mind, I think cool and bright colors such as light grey and sky blue will match the VR perfectly.

And here is how the Twitter header would look like:

Can you make the letters a little thinner and with a little more space between them?
They are a little hard to read for me.

Thank you for the feedback! I had a problem making the text thinner as the Os would have to be smaller. So I decided to make space bigger between the letters. This is how it turned out:
